View Full Version : Have the Bobcat-Hornets ever won a playoff series?

I can't recall a year in which they did.
By my count that would make them and the Kings the only franchises in the league not to win a playoff series since 04-05 (the Bobcat-Hornets inaugural season). Unless the Wizards havent won since then either? Which feels possible.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I think it's Hornets, Kings, and Wizards currently with the longest playoff winning droughts.

On April 9, 2010, the Bobcats clinched their first playoff berth with an exciting 104–103 road win over the New Orleans Hornets, finishing the 2009–10 season at 44–38, the team's first winning record.
The Charlotte Hornets have never won a NBA Finals. The closest they came to winning a championship was in 1993, 1998, 2001 and 2002 when they lost the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

They won a series in 1998 against Atlanta, and in 2001 against Miami.

Original Hornets are a different franchise than the one OP is asking about

Actually I think it doesn't matter cause the current hornets own the rights to the original hornets if I'm not mistaken, so the 1989-2002 records would belong to the current Hornets team and they made the 2nd round twice in the 90s
Silver is a ****ing retard for letting this Hornets Pelicans fiasco happen no one ever can remember what’s what. ****ing basketball reference thinks guys who played on the Hornets before and after they moved from Charlotte to New Orleans played on two separate teams :facepalm

I thought I remembered there being some arrangement to that effect, but wasn't exactly sure. Youre right tho, for the purposes of this thread I was only counting the re-started Bobcat-Hornets in Charlotte.
The Kings won a playoff series the year before the Bobcats were esatblished, and then their current drought began, so they're currently tied for the longest streak. I can't remember if the Arenas era Wizards ever won a series (I dont think so) but they may be the ones with the actual record if not.

The Wizards reached a couple of times the Eastern Conference Semifinals with Arenas, Carton Butler and co., IIRC.

Did they? I thought they lost to the Cavs in the first round 3 years in a row.

Arenas had a good series duel with Kirk Hinrich they won and the Wall and Beal years had 3 series wins too. The wizards were in game 7 vs the Celtics the Isiah Thomas “King in the fourth” year.

Really!?
I can honestly say I dont recall a single playoff series they PLAYED in, let alone won. It doesnt surprise me they played in a series or two. But they actually won three??
That... does not sound right to me. We're gonna need a fact check on that.
None so far under the DK era.
