Pretty amazing how Lebron seems to always struggle against the Spurs, even when the spurs suck.

Already has eight turnovers...like how? Dude needs to go back to the bench if he isn't ready to play.

Almost like he's 38.

Almost like he's 38.

But if he scores a bunch of points, "Look at what he's doing at 38!"

Sorry, can't have it both ways. Can't use his age as a prop and a crutch. Pick a lane and stay in it.

Okay so what, he should go retire right now? 38 is too old to play basketball better than what he is right now?

Exactly. I'm a big Lebron fan, but Lebron has objectively been playing poor this year for his standards. Yeah he's old as F, but he just averaged 30ppg last year.

Lebron at this point has so much basketball experience and is supposed to be a "high IQ" player...so if his body is still not up to par, then he should be able to play smarter an avoid having 8 turnovers within like two and a half quarters. He could easily end up with over ten turnovers and the Spurs come back to win.

Come on man, be real. Lebron is expected to be a star because he still has that ability left in the tank. So when he has eight turnovers in two and a half quarters...he's gonna be criticized. In fact, what NBA player wouldn't be criticized playing that badly?

Also man...this Spurs team is bad.

Actually having it both ways is the only reasonable approach. It is in fact impressive when Kareem lights up Hakeem for 40 when he’s 39 isn’t it? And isn’t it also understandable he was a lot worse than he used to be due to age? That he shouldn’t be expected to do it every night like he might 10 years earlier. That’s just common sense.

How is it even arguable that both those things are true?

This is like when people say if you credit someone the most for winning you have to blame them the most for losing. It sounds good till you give it a moments thought.

If you contribute the most and win of course you get the most individual credit. And if you contribute more than anyone else and lose…obviously you’re the least to blame.

Sports fans trip over their common sense looking to win arguments all the time.

It makes all the sense on the world to be impressed an old player plays well and it makes all the sense in the world to not expect it at the same rate it used to happen.

When MJ was a wizard we would fawn over big games amazed at his performance for his age. When he had 16 on 6 of 19 we were less harsh than we would be if he were 29 instead of 39.

This is all incredibly obvious and has a thousand examples.

It isn’t one speck contradictory.

It’s the only way to react to both things. Old guy plays great…it’s impressive. Old guy looks like he lost a step…well no shit he’s old.

That needs defending?

Yes, LeBron is clearly choosing to play badly

If he wanted to he could still put up 35/8/8 with elite defense, he just chooses not to :lol

Why are you surprised a guy had a sudden decline at his age it's common. It's surprising he was a superstar for so long in the first place

Exactly. I doubt anyone questions that he's capable of having a great game now and then or that he used to be a top player.

But he's an overall net negative now, and his fanbois get angry and emotional whenever anyone points that out.
