Years ago, I had a short-lived relationship with someone I knew in high school. I thought I knew her pretty well, but she turned out to be very manipulative, psychologically abusive and even violent. Eventually I found out from her sister that she never officially broke off her relationship with another guy, always describing it as "it's complicated." She apparently had this fantasy where two guys would get into fisticuffs over her and was presumably trying to make that happen. I wanted no part of it, broke it off with her, and she responded by slashing my tires and leaving a dead rat on the hood of my car.

That was 9 years ago. 2 years ago when we were going through lockdowns, she called me out of the blue. I guess she had nothing better to do than try to weasel her way back into my life.

She called 4 times; I ignored the first three then answered the fourth in frustration demanding to know what she wanted. She asked "What are you doing tonight?" I said, "Not you. Now leave me the hell alone." Fortunately, she hasn't made any further attempts to contact me.

My ex of 5 years we were still chatting for like 6 months after she moved out and it was difficult to get over her. When it's done, it's done. Because your mind will rationalize that maybe just maybe there is a way to work things out. I eventually stopped talking to her completely and we are both better for it.

Ofc I don't know her, but alot of overprotected kids aren't let grown up. Anyone I knew that was ended up ****ing around likebher or taking excessive amounts of drugs. In chatting with my ex's sister on Facebook a few months ago, I learned she has had 3 failed marriages at age 33 and 5 children with those 3 men. She has no job and is living largely on child support from her 3 exes. By all accounts she's a total mess. Knowing how she treated me, I wouldn't be shocked if she's beating her kids.
