What do you think is the most underrated skill in basketball?
Everyone knows you have to be a good shooter, have to be quick, defend well, the obvious stuff.
But what is either a physical attribute or a specific basketball play or basketball skill that is more important to be good at than people realize?

The one that is never really talking about that truly separates the good from the great players is having a nose for the ball. All of the greatest guys have the anticipation and awareness to come down with 50/50 balls or rebounds more than their positional peers.
If two guys are 27/5/5 on similar efficiency but one guy consistently finds himself in the right place at the right time more often than the other, then that guy is a far more impactful player.
For me, anticipation. I've played with some that aren't soo athletic but their capability to anticipate plays make them quite useful on the court. These are the guys that are mostly at the right spot at the right time. Whether for a pass or rebound or shot.

Moving without the ball. Otto Porter isn't the most talented guy but his off ball movement results in a lot of easy looks.

Getting away with cheating in all seriousness, if you play strictly by the rules it is almost impossible to gain an advantage.

Reaction time
Lebrons is the best all time. Vision/reaction time are huge but never talked about cause there's no objective way to measure it

These days, the midrange jumper gets a bit underrated. Vital skill though.
