Jordan Poole filled in nicely for Klay in the regular season last year. He put up 21/4/4/1 on 59% TS% as a starter in 51 games. He outplayed him in the playoffs and finals as well.
This season, Poole has started 4 games and is putting up 28/2/4/2 on 64% TS%. He's starting tonight and playing well again. Klay's days seem numbered and he's really a spotty shooter now.
Klay was still good last year after he got into a rhythm. Not sure what's going on this year

I think they need to make Poole the starter but only if Klay can adjust. Intuition tells me this wouldn't go well with him and perhaps the locker room problems might override the benefits. But Klay is already 32 while Poole is only 23. No shame on him. He's had an excellent career but if GS is gonna be a serious threat to repeat, I think they'll need Poole more so than Klay.

They aren't playing Klay back to back but he had 26 pts last night, he's had good games and bad games but unless someone is going to offer a good deal for him (Dallas, Miami) I don't see them elevated Jordan this year to starter

I'd give Klay another week or two to see if he can get it together. If he hasn't by then, yeah, I'd make Poole the starter.

No he didn't. Klay played last season, too. That's 51 games in the regular season, not including his playoffs, which was another 22 games. It's unrealistic to think he'd perform the same. And given his age, the upside just isn't there. Poole has much more potential and has proven himself already.
Looks like gs has won more games with their potent young gun around. :lebronamazed:

I agree with you, but you have to take into account that Kerr loves Klay and messaging his ego far more than you know.. what's actually best for the team.

I don’t think fans realize how much more teams and organizations care about understanding defense than they do. Clay is no longer what he was but it is for physical reasons. He still understands where to be and what to do on that end. I heard a former executive and Director of personnel say that at times Jordan Poole is so out of place on defense he questions if he should even be on the floor no matter if his shot is falling or not.
The number of veterans who hang around in prominent roles with come and go offfence just because they have a firm understanding of what they should do on defense even if they don’t physically have it the way they used to should make this clear.
Coaches, execs, and so on don’t look at ppg and related stats nearly as much as fans do. They preach defense. Almost to a man every coach talks about defense first and how the offense will take care of itself.
Kerr certainly does. I don’t see him benching a smart veteran who knows how to play and has shown he still had the wild scoring explosions in him for one of the least trustworthy defenders in the league.
He mentioned that their run is coming to an end soon. Maybe then it’s Jordan’s turn. When Kerr just gives up on them still contending who knows what the lineup looks like. While there’s hope?
Hes a normal coach. Meaning he wants the veteran who doesn’t get lost even when he’s lost a step.

KT could easily adjust to being 6th man.
Question is will green suck Poole's pipe?
