View Full Version : It’s been 39 years since a team scored more than the current Celtics.

It’s been 53 years if you don’t count the early 80s nuggets who literally decided not to care about defense and run you to death.

And the lineup when healthy had its entire starting five get all defensive team votes last year.

Considering those facts is it fair to say the team should be ground into paste, mixed into concrete, formed into blocks and sank to the bottom of the ocean if they don’t win a title in the next couple years?

Or would banishment to the seafloor be excessive, considering how talented a few of the other contenders are as well?

They really should have won last year. Tatum absolutely pooped his pants in the finals though. We’ll give him a pass since it was his first finals but they were the better overall team.

This year is their chance.. Possibly their best chance because next year is Jaylen's last under his contract. He will want max money, possibly supermax and I don't think Celtics will be up for it. Trade talks will be at max for him and offers will be coming in. You never know if Celtics decide to deal him

Is this a joke? Celtics are 100% giving an extension, what a ridiculous ****ing statement. :facepalm

They won't win it all.

Bucks will cuck them in the playoffs, or Lakers in the finals

Celtics have 90's Bills written all over them. They'll never win!

The Celtics have no history of not giving the max where it's warranted. They would have maxed Irving and KD before him but both players chose other teams.

do you even follow the NBA? There would be no chance of Jaylen Brown not getting Max money even if he weren’t the vice president of the players union which puts even more pressure on him not to set a pro management precedent and take less before or during a massive renegotiation of the CBA.

Not to mention….he’s better than some super max guys are already.

Nobody looking into these things questions the max for a 27/7/7 contending team union leader….

I actually didn't know their offense was this historic so far.

They have a 120.7 ORTG which is +8.0 above league average.

For comparison sake the '87 Lakers were +7.3.

The Jazz had the highest offensive rating ever last year I think into January before injuries and Covid hit. In the playoffs it was Rubio/Favors spotting up in the corner bad

But if you expect them to be 'one of the best', then they should have gone deeper in the postseason at least a couple of times. Yes?

I’m not actually saying not to count them I’m just saying they’re the only team other than the current Celtics to score of this much in over half a century. They did it three or four times in that run.

how was he underachieving? Has done more than he was supposed to all through his career. Looking at his numbers this year and even where his numbers have dropped off he still ranks higher than most guys. That's how dominant he's been

I switched to Monday Night Football before the announcement but I would bet he got the Tommy Award fir the game today. Had a nice dunk too.

I wonder how I would handle having a son with a porn star. With his money the kids will be provided for no problem but how does that kid handle it when the kids in 8th grade biology are using video of his mother for sex Ed? That's got to be scarring. And not that it would help much but there's no real reason for her to lose custody...it would be unfair to say she's an unfit mother just because she used to be in films. But the abuse he's going to get from classmates over it is almost bad enough to be a case for something? Maybe maybe maybe not. Pray for the boy.

I just heard that the last time before this year that the Celtics had 130 in three straight games, a rookie Pat Riley was on the other team in one of them.

The game against the Hornets last week, Tatum missed a layup at the end of the third quarter when the team had 124 points. Had he made that layup, it would’ve been the most points through 3 quarters in Celtics history. Think about how many games the Celtics have played and how many points they put up in the 80s and whatnot, and they almost broke the record in 2022.
