In their primes, who's the better player?

I'm interested to read people's cases. I myself am struggling with this comparison. Their careers overlapped for like 7 seasons and yet it feels they are playing in totally radically different eras.

Kobe's one of the best playmakers all-time at his position, he ran the triangle for all 5 of his rings & led the team in assists on all 5 occasions.

Kobe's off-ball ability gets really underrated because the haters who weren't even there during his prime didn't see how versatile his offensive skillset really was. KB maximized his teammates because of his ability to pass & to play off-ball. The KB you saw in 2012 or 2013 was a different player & had more freedom to dominate the ball more & play more like the modern scorers you see today.

Kobe's a lot better on defense and is the bigger guy in this comparison.

But curry's offense benefits greatly from moving screens set by his elite teammates. So as usual, there's more impact to be made since he can connect shots from afar with better consistency. Still both definitely suck at making clutch shots in the playoffs.

Kobe was a monster on defense, he had skill, discipline and effort to play super elite d.
Curry is much better offensive player. His efficiency, gravity and movement without the ball are best we've ever seen.

I'm a Curry fan and offense always beat defense, so it's Curry for me, but it's a real debate, and I'm good with both choices.

I'm iffy about it. Overall I lean Kobe as he was better on defence apart from what the Stan's would say but curry is a generational talent on offence

He had his highest apg averages without Shaq.

That's like me saying that Luka only gets assists due to him dominating the ball so he's not actually a real playmaker.. we all know that's not true.

KB had great passing ability, averaged 7.4 assists per game in the 2nd half of the '13 season. KB could run an offense full-time when they asked him to. He played off-ball a lot under Phil and didn't get minutes his first few seasons & was basically done at 34, yet is still 2nd all-time in assists for a SG and with just 4 behind Clyde.
