I feel like the league and everyone is basically stuck in the thinking of the 00s, that "zone defense" is this overpowered defense that would slow the game down.
That was the reason the defensive 3 seconds was instituted, the league didn't have the confidence in its guard players, that they would get to the rim without it.
However, we're 20 years on and 3 point shooting and ball swinging is so much improved, I just don't see why plonking your center under the rim would create such an unstoppable advantage. Put in a 3 point shooting center then, which almost all teams have now.
What it would do however is put a premium on finishers and skilled midrange players.
