View Full Version : Wolves gave up way too much for Rudy, including a potentially better center

Seriously not only did they give up a bunch of future picks and some good role players, they gave up a guy who is looking like he’s the next Gobert in Walker Kessler. Kessler doesn’t get many minutes yet (only 17.3 MPG), but when he does he’s produced, putting up 6.5 points and 6.1 rebounds on a 72.8 TS%, along with 1.9 blocks per game. He is 6th in the league in blocks despite his low minutes in fact. Per 36 he puts up 13.5/12.8 with 4.0 blocks! And just last night he was the key factor in the Jazz winning down the stretch against a great team in the Pelicans, as his rim protection prevented Zion Williamson from taking over late. He actually might turn out better than Gobert, as he is already better at 21 than Gobert was and is currently producing a higher RAPTOR rating than Gobert is right now (+2.7 to +2.6). He also has shown more offensive potential than Gobert ever did. And he’s 21 and Gobert is 30. AND the Wolves gave up a bunch of picks and a couple good role players to boot! Just an all time bad trade for Minnesota.

Can't quit me!

Kessler isn't as long or athletic as Gobert. Doesn't have as much upside. We'll see if he's ready to put in the work and do anything to help his team win games like Gobert. Has to get stronger. Yet to show he can defend in space. Really nice big though. Waiting to see him shoot. He did shoot 3's in college just not very good

Vanderbilt is closer to Gobert right now. He brings a lot of what Rudy and AK before him did just not the rim protector that they were/are
