Kyrie is one of the best second options of all time. Durant is current top 3 best in the league. They certainly should be a contender. But yeah, after a bad start, they've been slowly but surely making their way up the standings.

Honestly Durant is more impressive when you factor in the torn achilles. That's usually game over for anyone's career, the fact that he came back from that in his 30s and is putting up 30 ppg + 56% from the field is crazy.
