I get why they did the one legged fade but the way it turned out? Redo it with his German 3 celebration.

If he doesn't have one yet Olajuwon easily gets a statue before Harden. The standard for a statue should be extremely high though, more than just being one of the greatest players in a team's history. Should be for the greatest players in league history, period. Harden is a stat monster with MVP credentials but I would still call him borderline.

The Giannis one was an ad campaign by some company but with the news I just read I don’t think I would mind giving a statue or jersey retirement to an active player. Franco Harris just died. He retired 39 years ago and the Steelers were gonna retire his jersey….this weekend! And he didn’t make it. That’s ****ing stupid. Let people live to see their moments. Why let them get old?


A guy like Dirk or Wade in their finals seasons would have been cool to see retired. At least Dallas is doing it while Dirk is still real life young even if basketball old.

Statues are being given out too freely.

Statues should be reserved for people who changed the game on the court, did something extremely noteworthy or brought the league to new heights of popularity.

There are less than 10 players in NBA history currently deserving of a statue.

Russell, Chamberlain, KAJ, Bird, Johnson, Jordan, James. That's about it.

A strong argument could be made to omit KAJ and James from the list and I would not argue the point.

Truth be told? Russell, Chamberlain, Bird, Johnson, Jordan.

That's the list. If you want to really take it down all the way to the bottom, perhaps only Russell and Jordan.

I’d kill for prime Andrew Kirilenko right now. I’d wound for Rudy. The Jazz don’t have anyone to statue but Stockton and Malone. Pistol Pete for fame reasons I guess but only Stockton/Malone actually mattered to the league or really did anything to stand out for the franchise. Nobody gets talked about for supposedly carrying a team to nowhere 30 years later especially when you aren’t a lifer aren’t particularly popular and weren’t exciting.
