ok so you're going into a draft room knowing everything you know today. why on earth would any GM/owner select lebron
the absolute most he can give you is
- 8 years, 1 finals appearance
thats what he would give a team before leaving because in a draft situation you're building from the ground up. lebron isnt capable of leading a team to anything in this situation
lebron is a rental. he has no all time measure of value because hes only going to be available for 4 years to help a team with 2 other stars buy a title
when i'm looking at value in a player i'm not just looking at skills. i'm also looking at availability, tenure, loyalty, ability to grow, work with young players, grow under a coach. develop.
lebron has none of these qualities. hes a team killer. a coach killer. a young player stunter/trader. he picks up and leaves at the first sign of adversity
how is that all time greatness. where is the value in that. hes a journeyman. not a legendary franchise corner stone. hes a pebble that skips across the pond to the next easy situation. talented yes. all time top 5?10? NO LOL
knowing what you know about lebron how is any franchise taking him over
- Michael Jordan x13 with 1 team ( 6 finals, 6 titles )
- Bill Russell x13 with 1 team ( 12 finals, 11 titles )
- Kobe Bryant x20 with 1 team ( 7 finals, 5 titles )
- Tim Duncan x19 with 1 team ( 6 finals, 5 titles )
- Magic Johnson x13 with 1 team ( 9 finals, 5 titles )
- Larry Bird x13 with 1 team ( 5 finals, 3 titles )
- Hakeem Olajuwon x17 with 1 team ( 3 finals, 2 titles )
- Steph Curry x14 with 1 team ( 6 finals, 4 titles )
- Dirk Nowitzky x21 with 1 team ( 2 finals, 1 title )
- Dwyane Wade x13 with 1 team ( 5 finals, 3 titles )
why is anyone selecting lebron over these guys in a draft. you won't even get what dirk got for the mavs.... not without him coming back later down the road... so thats lebrons value to a team? half a dirk?
and yes i know kobe was drafted by the hornets. but they only took him to trade to LA for divac. it was a pick/trade swap. the lakers selected kobe with the pick they traded for basically. kobe was their guy. jerry west bet on kobe
the cavs bet on the wrong horse in the 2004 draft. if they selected wade they end up for more success
the true 1st pick of the 2004 nba draft:
dwyane wade
