View Full Version : Players better than Lebron right now

I would for sure take these players (regular season).

Jokic, Giannis, Curry, KD, Luka, AD, SGA, Embiid, Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Dame.

Here are some players I would MAYBE take over Bron - Donovan Mitchell, Ja, Devin Booker, Harden, Zion?

I think best case scenario for Lebron is being a top 15 or player for the regular season.

Definitely better:

Jokic
Giannis
Curry
KD
Luka
AD
SGA
Embiid
Tatum
Jimmy Butler
Dame
Jaylen Brown

Better:

Zion
Donovan Mitchell

Probably better / More valuable:

Lauri
KAT
Harden
Ja
Domantas Sabonis
Siakam

On same level of impact, only offense or defense:

Kyrie
Tray
Gobert
Demar

Imo, he doesn't crack top 20. I'll have him around 25 or so.

I think Lebron still has a pretty clear edge on Kyrie, Trae, Demar, Gobert, Lauri, Siakam, Jaylen Brown and Sabonis.

I thought Lebron was somewhere in the 8th-10th best player last year, but I have him right around top 13-15 this year.

I understand where you are coming from. Perhaps those guys should be in the "maybes".

After this list, there’s not that many players I’m for sure taking over LeBron for this year. Zion I would strongly consider, and then you’d have the likes of Butler, Ja, Mitchell, Booker & PG in the mix.

Personally, I’m for sure not taking Harden, Dame or SGA over him.

I don't see how you can put Lebron above Siakam and Jaylen Brown who play both sides of the floor at a near elite level.

Kyrie, Trae, Demar, Gobert, Lauri - that's where he's at, with the one dimensional players who have some glaring weaknesses. Not bad for his last seasons, but he should be played like they are, with plenty of help and a more limited role.

Players who are clearly better impact-wise:

KD
Curry
DeRozan
Morant
Mitchell
Jokic
Embiid
Giannis
Middleton
AD
Kyrie
Trae
Haliburton
Tatum
Brown
Butler
Siakam
Zion
Ingram
Booker
George
Kawhi
De'Aaron Fox
Lillard
SGA

There you have it, and I'm sure there are a few I'm not thinking of. He's not top 20. Not even close.

LeBron looked like a borderline All Star at best to start off the season, but he has shown a lot more ability over the past month. I actually think he's better than last season and may still be a top 10 player. Players who are undeniably better than him:

KD
Curry
Luka
Embiid
Jokic
Tatum
Giannis
AD

^ That's 8 guys. Then you have Harden, Lillard, Booker, Zion, Mitchell, Morant, Siakam, SGA and Butler. LeBron's right there with them fighting for the last 2 spots.

i am taking dame and sga over bron. Mitchells had an underrated year, amazing offensive numbers leading the best srs team in league. Morant is a little overrated but still elite. I think harden butler have missed too many games and arent that much ahead of bron when healthy if at all and still unwilling to take booker, zion, siakam over him

Bruh, Lebron is not better this year than last year. He's basically the same, except instead of being a good three point shooter, he is total ass so far. Lebron was barely a top ten player last year, which was still extremely impressive. He's slipped some - at least so far this season - and is closer to top 15. Hopefully he will stay healthy and we'll seem him break Kareem's record.

He's definitely not an All-NBA player so far this season. He's basically the same he was last season except for making his 3s. Players like Siakam, Kyrie & Zion are better than him this year. Kawhi is getting back in shape and is going to be better than him by the end of the season as well. Bran is still great at getting his numbers but the impact & team play just isn't there.

Nah, he's barely top ten. The decline in skills was inevitable considering his age, but even during his prime he had some epic choke jobs and humiliating defeats. Not everyone can be at the top. He's still had a good career though.

How about in 2020 when lakers won the finals. What was public perception of him that time? Was he helpful during that period. I didn't follow Lebron much at lakers, but i remember when he took Cavs from 3-1 to win the finals everyone was calling him goat and stuff

I think that’s what fans who don’t get the game, really don’t understand. It’s how he gets the numbers, when he gets the numbers, and the actual impact of the stats. If they’re hollow or meaningful in terms of winning games. He’s been like this since the 2017-2018 season, tbh. It’s just gotten more noticeable the past two seasons. He had positive influence in 2020, along side a healthy AD. But beyond that? It’s all very superficial.

We all know he's never been in the discussion...

TF are you smoking? The Lakers were on pace for 56 wins in '21 when he was playing and healthy. In '19, they were the #4 seed before he got injured. They basically have had a $40M bench warmer since '21. Replace just AD and his salary with some good role players and the Lakers would be a top 4 seed.

Looking at this list three months later...it's still pretty damn accurate even though Bron has gotten better.

I'd still take Jokic, Giannis, Curry, KD, Luka, AD, SGA, Embiid, Tatum, and Dame over Bron. The "maybes" list is pretty much all no except for Donovan Mitchell who had his 71-point game after I made this thread. I'd add Jimmy Butler to the maybe's list along with D-Mitch.
