View Full Version : You really can see why athletes hate talking to media.

Chris Carter had an interview praising the hell outta Justin Jefferson.

“Randy’s done it. I’ve done it. Justin Jefferson has the ability to be better. He does things at a higher level than we could do. Can he sustain those things? That’s up to him,” Carter said. “Randy Moss is a bad dude, a first-ballot Hall of Famer so it’s not to talk bad about Randy, but it lets you know how good Justin Jefferson is.”

Says the guy is better than he was and even better than Randy Moss who talent wise many have as the GOAT. In a follow up:

“Are we putting [Jefferson] in the conversation with Jerry Rice, whose records are unbreakable,” she asked.

“No, he’s not going to compete with Jerry Rice, no one ever is going to compete with those numbers,” Carter replied. “You’d have to have 10, 1,500-yard seasons and three 2,000-yard seasons and you’re still short.”

Know the headline of the article?

Do you think this is somehow limited to sports media? And do you think it is somehow limited to headlines only?

So a lot of young people are angry reacting and there is talk of old haters and all that. Of course people don’t read articles. Just see headlines. Now of course enough read it to point out the misleading headline but still….

These headline seeking controversy creating “look at me” ass reporters must drive people crazy to deal with. Have to be so careful with your words because they will find some hate in there to make you look bad.

Id almost wanna sign a shoe deal with a stipulation that they cover my fines at the end of the year because I’d walk out after every game and do no media just to see them lose it and complain about it being in my contract like that woman who was harassing that nfl player recently and had to apologize.

Id be the most boring person dealing with sports media then go do hour long interviews elsewhere to sell myself to make them even more upset because I clearly could have meaningful back and forths but I’d Kwahi the entire sports reporter world and expose my personality once I left the building.

You aren’t getting a single misleading quote outta me. My signature shoe would have a hush symbol and an ad campaign built around shutting the **** up so you can work. If you’re a big enough star it works.

Wont work for a role player but the stars could get away with it.

I think it would be hard dealing with all media largely because the media is made up of humans and humans are shit when they get ambitious. But a lot of it is necessary because you have people doing things that are important to the entire world. We are talking life and death issues. My issue with sports media is they act so entitled and important when literally nothing they “report” matters.

Even when they investigate potential criminal activity we don’t need sports reporters to do it. If someone is a dangerous criminal, there are people to look into that and report on it. I don’t need someone who got into this field of work because they grew up watching the Cowboys with their dad, talking to some guy about it in a post game show.

Sports reporting is down there with fashion as the least necessary form of media but they get high and mighty as if they are true journalists when they’re just trying to get a Clickbait quote about some guy who had a bad game or maybe knocked someone else if you really try to twist his words.

Ive never met anyone who even wants to see an athletes press conference outside extreme situations. Maybe when your favorite player with the title or there is some kinda major happening. I don’t care what Tobias Harris had to say about a Hornet game in December. Let that man go home.

But they’re out here talking about “He HAS to answer my questions! I need clarity! I have a job to do!” like anyone but other people in sports media care about that job being done.

You kinda have to have someone looking into political corruption, corporate issues that impact tens of thousands of employees or important sectors of business, and military developments…there are things the media has to report on.

What PJ Tucker feels like after he missed a big shot?

Nah. They don’t even need to ask and I definitely don’t need to hear it.

She went down a list replying to dozens of people telling her nobody cares about or needs anybody pressing for answers on things like that at a time like that. They literally walk in on half(sometimes fully) naked players moments after a game to get answers to questions that don’t matter. Reminded me of Ned Flanders going in on Lisa:

”Ooooo do I hear the sound of butting in? Must be Lil Lisa Simpson Springfields answer to a question no one asked!”

Of topic but I have a little disagreement with the Moss take. No one has ever been Moss equal when it comes to catching the jump balls. It's hard to say anyone Coto of have been a great basketball player that you have never really seen play but I do believe that with average Ballantine and shooting he could have been Sprewell.

Let me say this first…it happens so often to me I enjoy seeing someone else taken apart by talk to text. That said:

I don’t have any problem believing Randy Moss could’ve been in the NBA and been a good player. I have my doubts about Devin Funchess though. I watched him on the Panthers and hes supposedly trying to transition now and he has to be deep in his 30s.

It’s not even a knock on Jefferson, but better than Moss? Nah :lol

And yes, 99.9% of the time someone in sports media will ask a totally meaningless or repetitive question.

“How does it feel to win/lose?”

“What was going through your mind?”

Unless it’s after an epic sporting event, I never listen to postgame interviews or press conferences.

Yea barring these situations:

or title wins I don’t even need anyone asked anything ever.

Who actually remembers whatever Iverson said after losing in 01 or what Wade thought after the 09 season ended?

Its purely for the benefit of other media members because fans don’t have interest in it.

TO is third in yards and he played till like 37-38. And even he would have to come back for six more seasons at his prime level to pass Jerry. Only nine people even have 100 receiving touchdowns and he has 197.

Meh. Best WR since Calvin Johnson.

I may consider prime Julio as well.

You could throw Fitzgerald and Antonio Brown in there as well.
