Him being able to play all positions is a myth. Sure, he CAN, but how often does he defend guards? Or how effective is he at shutting down centres or going past them? For all the talk about him being able to play all or nearly all positions is exaggerated.

Watching the Lakers play the Mavs, it was difficult to determine who had worse defense between Luka and Lebron. Both of them were terrible on D.

In his prime he's likely above average at defending smaller centers or bigger guards among starters. That's good enough.

Also, AD wasn't injured and there were solid pieces like Rondo playing key parts and some solid shooters too
