My dad passed away 3 weeks ago today. He died in his sleep of a heart attack right beside my mom. No health issues. Never had cancer. Just gone.
He died in the Phillippines so my family and I had to scramble to get to the Phillippines for my dad's burial on the 7th. Some of my siblings passports weren't renewed so the process has been stressful to get shit accomplished and book our tickets. I haven't been back to the Phillippines in years. Not the ideal way to visit, but it will be nice to see long lost family
Needless to say this has been a hard Christmas in our home. We didn't even put up a tree because we were so focused on my mom and whatever needed to be done. He was the biggest Sixer fan ever. He even believed Julius was better than Lebron and Jordan. This is a man who religiously followed the NBA. We were super close. I'll miss him lots
Anyways, wish you all well. Really enjoy and appreciate the holidays with your family. Bless

really sorry to hear. condolences for you and your family. death is a part of life after all. all we have to fall back on is knowing that they're headed to a better place. i've lost family due to cancer and to go suddenly in your sleep is definitely a blessing. that being said i must ask this question and i hope you don't get offended by it. just for research purposes. was your father up to date with his vaccinations. just wondering for a totally unrelated matter
may you and your family find peace during this tough time

grief is rough and that's an understatement. it can be crippling when you lose someone close to you that you've known for so long. coincidentally i went through it earlier this year and it still wears me down.
confide in others - don't be ashamed. create a shrine for your father. cherish the memories and write down a list of things you never want to forget about him because memories fade. create a picturebook. do whatever you have to do in order to get through it bro. live for your father and know that he's with you everywhere you go.

My parents retired to the Phillippines in '17. When covid hit they were in a smaller town outside the main city Ilo Ilo. Before covid hit the town they locked it down. Military barricades around the town. Nobody needed it and the town never had a case. So my dad never got the vaccine. Even when it opened up cases came in but didn't get it and never caught it. He wasn't an antivaxxer. He just didn't see the need

RIP to Poppa hateraid. Poppa hateraid is with the Lord now and in a much better place where everyone knows that Julius Erving > Lebron James. Lord, please give the hateraid family the strength to endure this loss and may they take solace in knowing they will be reunited in the future.

It's been tough as I have yet to fully process the loss. He died overseas so we've just been preparing to see him as he's being buried there. I think it will hit me once I see him

He's a legend. I've literally had thousands of messages of condolences. My mom says people have been coming by the house 70 at a time. We have political power in the Philippines so they are well respected

Yes. I'm overwhelmed with things. Trying to process my emotions. Suddenly ISH just wasn't a place to retreat to to kill time

Hoping you recover soon. Anyway, let's troll that dick sucker (you know who) again in the league forum someday.

I lost a father , step father and father in law. It's not easy , and hate is easy to come by/ but even if relationships are strained must look at the good memories , because that defines you.
Sorry for your grief.

Let that hate go. You don't have to believe in hate to live a peaceful life. Talk to us. This is a safe place.

Man, sorry to hear your loses.
My dad and my relationship was strong. Out of his 5 children I embodied him the most. Accomidating yet firm. We both had a passion for basketball and our Sixers. We loved to sing. We where our hearts on our sleeves. We both loved to fight and thrived physical confrontations. We both have a vulnerability and love for friends and family. I am my father's son

Having what just happened in my family there is bigger things than to pick on people's ignorance. I tried a discussion. The peanut gallery of course came in with their basic simple minded responses. It doesn't entertain me anymore to feed the goldfish.
But keep up the good fight.

I did. The best. I'm successful because of him. I'm who I am because of him.
I'm not ready to see him put in the ground. I'm still trying to process that
