It's one of those things where you are going about your day and a fact smacks you in the face that's hard to believe. I couldn't think of one single funny female stand up comedian. So I looked female stand ups and I recognized only a couple of names, but they definitely aren't good, I don't know successful they are at selling out shows by themselves but I doubt people are waiting to pay good money to listen to them.

When is the last time there's been a good stand up female comedian? The 90s? 80s? 70s? It sounds like a sexist topic but please prove me wrong. Where are they?

Men relate to men, women relate to women but it does seem to be a male dominated profession. You'd probably only find a handful of women in a top-50 list.

Probably for multiple reasons, and yeah maybe genetics is one of those reasons.

I do think that stand up of all kinds has been downhill since the 90s. Maybe we are running out of jokes.

Even with the men there’s only like one or two good stand up comedians out of all of them.

lol, stand-up isnt about "jokes". its about societal phenomenons, trends, commentary..

cant run out of it.

anyway, humor is something that men are more gifted with than women.

I believe that over time and with everyone on the internet in contention of humor, that it is more difficult today for comedians to break new boundaries and be inventive. What I am seeing a lot of from comedians today is simple toilet humor which is no longer that funny. We've been there and done that.

Comedy in cinema has the same issue. We don't see many classically hilarious films like Dumb and Dumber, Office Space, American Pie, Big Lebowski, etc.

There have been a few funny movies made recently but the majority of it feels regurgitated and forgettable.

People commenting on and joking about society is over saturated like a mofo. People need to stfu. It would be nice to see a silent more physical mime style of comedy come back.

This is an exciting era for women. Women are demolishing records in all sorts of sports, such as swimming, track and field, and even weight lifting.

Even just last year a woman demolished the female record for most wins in a row and total winnings in Jeopardy.

Eventually there will be a female comedian that can compete with men and that will be light years ahead of any female comedian that ever lived. That includes Lucille Ball, Wanda Sykes, and Sarah Silverman. And also that comedienne who bragged about God loving her the best. And also Blade's favorite comedian that Vaccinated and Horny comedian (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?501887-Heather-Mcdonald-collapsing-video-is-the-greatest-thing-ever-i-now-believe-in-God&p=14537922&viewfull=1#post14537922).

You don’t have to think they are funny, that’s comedy, it’s subjective

Of course it's about jokes. It's about representing the thi gs you listed in a funny way. It's about satire.

Jesters been around for centuries. Comedians basically took their role and they're not out of material. The problem is that society today is too fixated on "you can't say that". In comedy you can. That's is its whole purpose. You're pro x-rights? Good, but if someone .akes a joke about it don't get mad. People get mad to easily these days.

If that's the best shit from the best women stand ups that you could find, then they are in worse a state than even I thought

Jesus, even Marcel Marceau’s family would be like, “nukka what?

Anyway, Joan Rivers was the last female stand up that I can remember laughing out loud to. The current females (Whitney Cummings, Shumer, etc) have their moments but not a full show. If I had to watch a full show, I would say Nikki Glaser. And the absolute worse, that for some reason had a buzz, is Michelle Wolf. An underrated comedian is Morgan Murphy, she doesn’t have a full hour of good jokes but she has very good jokes and good set-ups.

I could post tons more videos of funny female comics but you wouldn’t like any of them because they are women.

On average, men tend to be funnier than women due to differences in mental makeup and life experiences. These differences tend to allow men to generate funnier comedic material. Giving men a wider comedic range. However, it is important to note that there is a large range of comedic abilities within both genders, and it is not accurate to make generalizations about comedy based on gender alone. There are many women who are funnier than many men, and there are many men who are less funny than many women. It is important to recognize and respect the individual strengths and abilities of each person, rather than making assumptions based on gender.

There used to be funny female comics - Joan Rivers, Roseanne Barr, Lucille Ball, younger Kathy Griffin, Cloris Leachman, Phyllis Diller, Janeane Garoffalo, Bridget Phetasy... I dunno why modern females are so incapable of being funny, wokeness/political-correctness definitely is partially responsible but even the non woke female comics are almost all trash these days.

The linked movie is a pretty good watch if you're into comedy in general. (Women Aren't Funny)

I tend to agree that in general women aren't as funny as men in the stand up medium at least. The field is a little more competitive in comedic acting I think. But there are a few I like.

The maker of this documentary is Bonnie McFarland, who is a female stand up I like. She's married to Rich Vos, who's among my favorite of the sort of smaller time local NY stand ups. It's a good watch.

Stand Up just isn't a funny medium. There are few stand up comedians that can be very funny and engaging but on any given random night with a random comedian, 95% of the time it will be unfunny. That being said, the fact is the stand up format isn't really suited for female humor. There's something about commanding an audience that doesn't work to the strengths of women's character and personality. But like I said stand up is a stupid metric to measure humor in general. People erroneously think just because there is no good stand up female comedians that this means women aren't funny. No it means stand up isn't funny. If you think women aren't funny in general, you probably don't have any female friends, family members or in your personal circles.

Stand up appeals to people who never have deep or funny conversations in their real life. If you have interesting people around you, and they have a sense of humor, then everyday real life is a stand up comedy special. I don’t need a dude with a microphone to point out things and make me laugh when I have homies.
