And of course Shaq was dunked on more than that if you count indirects and putbacks…a couple bigs getting him quick. There’s a pretty extensive video on it. But it’s still a nice line from MJ assuming it happened to begin with which you never know with Shaq.

shaq is right. or i guess it was technically the other dude. but it can be a bit patronizing. in a competition among grown man you can get your own ass up.

What I took from it is Jordan saying you show respect for someone you take serious as a threat by not helping them. If it’s a serious contest versus a serious foe, you don’t do anything to make it easier for them. You only help somebody you don’t respect as a threat. Like a child or a true scrub you’re just playing around against. But you don’t help real competition.

yeah, that’s what i mean. if a little cousin gets laid out in a friendly game then you help him up. if you are playing a real game with the big boys you don’t do that. it can be perceived as a slight that you don’t think they are serious competition

See what Shaq is saying but I've seen Kobe, the ultimate "competitor", knock down both MJ and Wade...and help pick them up. Seen him help Bron back up too.

If anything Bean didn't respect scrubs. :lol
