Who would you rather take? Both at their best.

At their best? Joel, no question.
Who is higher on my all time rankings? Moses, no question.
If only Joel could rebound like Moses. He would probably be the GOAT with all the rings to prove it.

Are we sure about the peak? Moses was a baller. He might not have had the offensive arsenal Joel has, but he's physical and tough. One of the best motors ever.

No doubt, longevity and durability is huge reason Moses was so good.
But at their best, best games, best performances, all things equal in a vacuum, Joel is better.
Every week he is erasing Moses' franchise records from the books.

THIS IS A TEAM SPORT ---- Malone gets my vote.
he'd out rebound Embiid all day every day.
It's difficult to say definitively who is better between Moses Malone and Joel Embiid, as they played in different eras and styles of play. Additionally, players' careers and legacies should be considered in their entirety, not just their statistics or individual accomplishments.
Moses Malone was a highly decorated player who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001. He was a three-time NBA MVP, a 13-time NBA All-Star, and won the NBA championship in 1983 with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was also named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team and is considered one of the greatest centers in NBA history.
Joel Embiid, on the other hand, is still early in his career and has already established himself as one of the best centers in the league. He has been named an All-Star in each of the last five seasons (2018–2022) and was named to the All-NBA Second Team 4x (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). It's too early to say how Embiid's career will ultimately compare to Malone's, but he has certainly shown the potential to be one of the best players of his generation.

Embiid is a more skilled player but Moses simply unstoppable going after those offensive boards. Teams today would have to stock up on lots of big bodies just to deal with his motor and physicality. Embiid has actually had a somewhat bad postseason resume so right now it's Malone as the better player.

Moses was a beast but I'm confused by his impact.
One year he won MVP, had two all stars in the team plus an older Rick Barry. Yet his team only won 47 games and got swept by Jon Drew's Atlanta Hawks in the first round.
Another year he didn't win MVP, had no all star in the team, best teammate was someone called Robert Reid, team only won 41 games. Yet he went to the finals, beating Magic & Kareem in the first round.

- Moses averaged 31.3 ppg, 17.7 rpg, 3.0 apg, 0.3 spg, 1.7 bpg on 51.4% FG and 72% FT (55.29% TS)
- Kareem averaged 26.7 ppg, 16.7 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.0 spg, 2.7 bpg on 46.2% FG and 71.4% FT (51.73% TS)

I think I agree. I could see Moses outworking and wearing down Joel in a physical playoff series. Conditioning has been a frequent issue for Embiid.

Memphis has shown that rebounding is still very important and that you can win by pounding the glass. Steven Adams alone is averaging just about five offensive rebounds per game in only 27 minutes per game. I could see Moses getting 7+ per game like he did back in the day.

Moses and Joel will never pass him. Joel has a bunch of skills and could make the top ten but without rings, MVP's, and he's not going to hit Dan Issel numbers.
