I like kidney beans in my chili.
Chili without beans is nothing more than a hot dog topping

Beans of course. It's all pretty much the same texture without them.

if there's no beans then it's just spaghetti sauce.
and stop stealing threads from anger general
Definitely didn't get it from AG...... haven't posted there in at least 10yrs.
Was grocery shopping yesterday morning and saw Skyline Chili offered in the freezer section. It's a huge deal in Cincinnati where you can get the beanless chili served on pasta with a ton of shredded cheese on top. Or you can order it with beans and or onions.

I am not really a fan of skyline style chili, and I dont like beans in my chili either... when I make chili I always do texas style and I add seared cubes of beef for texture and flavor (basically a bunch of tiny individual steaks)

I don't intentionally put ketchup on anything I eat, but if I get a fast food burger, I won't tell them to hold the ketchup.

I do agree that most chili needs something to give it some substance. Beans are good, kidney or pinto. Chili spaghetti with grated onion on top is tasty, I've also tried saltine crackers and oyster crackers. I'll also sometimes toss some cornbread into a bowl of chili, and they go together quite well.
