Also, how do i make a poll or turn this into a poll? thanks

Despite being in 2 different sports they have so many similarities
-Both in GOAT talks
-Both dominated their sport for decades
-Both hated by jealous people
-Both dominant in an era of superstars

Its a tough one. Floyd's career is more perfect due to being undefeated, while LeBron has many finals losses. LeBron still has a few years so his legacy is not done yet. LeBron was more of an offensive athlete while Floyd was defensive

Who would you consider greater in their respective sport?

LeBron. he beat better competitions than Floyd. And Lebron is more popular.

Tiger Woods is great, one of the greatest in golf, but I still put him slightly below Floyd and LeBron

Floyd easily. 50 - 0 and retiring as the richest boxer with no real damage taken his entire career is a feat that is unmatched. In Bran's case he has the longevity argument but there are plenty of other players who achieved more than him outside of the longevity part.

50-0 is insane, considering over 20 of them were world champions/former champions.
Some of Floyd's criticism is not fighting fighters in their prime and avoiding some fights. People hate Floyd because of his domestic violence and "boring" defensive style so they discredit his achievements. I think he is a top 5 GOAT in boxing, or at the very least, greatest of his generation.

If LeBron continues to dominate the next few years, I think he can match or overtake Floyd. His finals losses makes it hard though

Yeah and Floyd had great longevity as well. Even when he lost his KO ability no one still came close to him in the ring. He was past his prime when he completely annihilated Canelo, who's 58-2-2 and was 42-0-1 at the time.

That was insane. Made Canelo look like a complete amateur

Let's see...Floyd Mayweather - undefeated.

Bronie - 4/10, 22-33, -86.

It's not even close, really. Although neither are the GOAT of their respective sports.

I love Manny Pacquiao and respect him a lot, but being a better at basketball than LeBron? Haha, thats a good one. As for being better than Mayweather in boxing, its also a no. Floyd beat him, Floyd beat people who beat Pacquiao (see Floyd vs Marquez), Floyd is undefeated, tougher resume, way more accurate of a puncher, 10x better defensively

I can't remember who the poster was, maybe masonndixon or whatever his name was. He legitimately thought that Floyd lost both fights. I'll have to look back through the boxing thread and see if I can find it. The first fight is debatable, but the second one, Floyd outclassed Castillo.

Broken hand? Mayweather used an injured shoulder as an excuse, but then again by your logic Manny Pacquiao deserves a pass for his loss vs Mayweather because he was injured in that fight.

The Mexican fighter landed 203 punches to a young Mayweather's 157, according to Compubox – the only time the boxing Hall of Famer was out-landed in his glittering pro career – while TV judge Harold Lederman had Castillo winning the bout 115-111

People on boxing forums discuss Floyd in GOAT talks all the time. I personally don't think he is the GOAT, more like top 10, but its not completely outrageous to have him in GOAT talks

Oscar De La Hoya also won by UD vs Felix Sturm, but DLH himself has said he lost the fight.

You can't compare championships in a team sport to an individual sport. Lebron was the best player in every finals besides 2011 and arguably 2020. You can't dodge opponents in basketball. But in terms of individual accolades, lebron is on the cusp of the scoring record, has the playoff scoring record on lock, highest elimination ppg, and he's on the cusp of getting into the top 5 in all time assists. OTOH, there have been a few people who have achieved 50-0-ish territory. Chavez almost made it to 100-0. Rocky Marciano won like 45? with like 38 ko'sl. Wanheng Menayothin was 54-0 before losing. He could have just padded his last few matches and even throwing into the mix a non-boxer like... Conor Mcgregor, right? People earlier in the thread said Floyd could/should very well be 49-1.

Here's a breakdown to help you draw your own conclusions

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMD7snm8IAw

Maidana arguably beat him too.

So if we count the Castillo fight as a lost, SRR was 40-0 before he lost and won his next 78 straight.

Floyd is textbook defensive boxing that everyone should take a page from, and I have no problem with him in goat talks, I just don't personally think he's the goat; and more importantly, in regards to this thread, Lebron has a much better case as goat of his sport than vice versa.
