Within the next few hundred years, surely there will be some genetic freak, never before seen talent who will join the NBA and surpass all the greats of the past including MJ, LeBron, Wilt, Kareem etc.

Do you think its likely it will happen, and when?
I think in a couple decades, someone will come in and break all the NBA records and be the new GOAT

Even if you're not on the 'Lebron is already GOAT' train and think it's MJ, there's no way he will be in 100 years, or probably even 30-40 years. Anyone more interested in the actual sport and not being a cheerleader should welcome the idea, if anything.

Above all else, in the year 2050 most/all who are currently alive and carrying the 'MJ is GOAT' torch will be dead or too old to care arguing with some 20 year old born in 2030. Someone else will have come along and that will be their GOAT, in a league that you'll barely recognize from what it is now. And the current 'Lebron is GOAT' fanbase will be dealing with said 20 year old. That's how it works.

Most casuals consider Bron the GOAT.
