View Full Version : Gambler loses $1.4 million on Chargers

I read this on ESPN. When the Chargers went up 27-0, DraftKings changed the money-line to -12500. Meaning you'd have to wager $12,500 on the Chargers to win $100. It must have seemed like a safe enough wager, even though $1.4 million seems a lot of money to risk just for an $11,200 payout if the Chargers won the game. When the Jaguars came back to win, that $1.4 was gone.

He put 1.4 million on the line to gain 1 percent on his money at the expense of potentially losing it all instantly.

Darwin award winner.

You just know one of these pro sports leagues is gonna be rocked by a huge gambling scandal sometime in the future. Just a matter of time.

That's some abysmal risk/reward ratio. I'm just going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's worth an absurd amount of $.

If anything, he should've placed a (much smaller) wager on Jacksonville. I remember reading if you had bet $100 on the Vikings down 33-0 you would've come away with nearly a million.

11.2k payout for a single day is quite a bit. The guy probably has done this for years. a moneyline -12500 is 99.21% or .9921. So out of a 1000 games the chances of something like this happening is 8.

Odds statistically were in his favor but they call it gambling for a reason.. there is always a chance, no such thing as absolute certainty.

I will say though, I’d pay good money to see his reaction throughout the 2nd half, esp towards the end of the game. That shit would be hilarious :lol

I don't care how much you know about sports, you will never win consistent money off sports betting.

He'd have to win a wager like that 125 times to cover the 1.4 million he lost. Even if there's a 99% chance of the Chargers winning, the odds are still against him. It's kind of like the Martingale system in a way... sounds like they're no way you can lose, but you're only winning tiny amounts at a time, and if you lose, you lose big.

That gambler's rollercoaster ride is wild, right? Losing $1.4 million on the Chargers—ouch! But hey, that's the thrill of gambling, isn't it? Even with odds in his favor at 99.21%, there's that 0.79% lurking around. It's like a constant game of cat and mouse. I get it, though. Sometimes, the allure of a sweet $11.2k payout is too tempting to resist. It's like being on the edge of your seat, cheering for that big win. And hey, who hasn't been there? But that's the thing about Casino Malaysia (https://yubet.info/malaysia/)—it's a crazy world of ups and downs. As much as stats and odds play their part, there's always that element of unpredictability.
Shut the FVCK up Lillian.

There was some guy who had a great system for horse racing. Made millions. But in general, you're right. Unless you have insider info or have some insight that literally everyone else has missed, it's not a good revenue stream.

Yeah, that situation was wild! The Chargers were looking unstoppable at 27-0, and with the odds shifting so drastically, it probably felt like a "safe" bet to many. But as we saw, sports betting can be so unpredictable.

He clearly has money to lose $1.4mil. Average joes can’t relate to losing that type of cash and still waking up with a smile.
