All-Star Anthony Davis continues to make pain-free progress on his right foot and there's optimism of a return to the lineup as soon as late next week, sources told ESPN on Friday.

The Lakers start a five-game trip on January 28 in Boston.

Davis - who's been out with right foot stress injury since mid-December - has been ramping up his activity recently, and coach Darvin Ham said on Thursday that Davis is "progressing really, really, really well."

Davis had been experiencing a career renaissance before the injury, averaging 27.4 points on a career-best 59.4 percent from the field, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.3 steals.

11-14 with AD, 9-11 without him. He hasn’t made as big of a difference as you’d think

Maybe AD should just not play for the Lakers anymore if he is such a non-factor

I wonder if AD was actually injured or if it was just load management, since everyone knows he's only good for half a season.

Yes because Bran wasn't out when AD played and they didn't have a horrible start together :kobe: .. T.Bryant and Schroder were both apparently healthy during all those AD games as well, right?

A 30+ PER player who led the team in everything but assists & was top 3 in RAPTOR had little to no impact... ok.

Bran put everything into this 1-month stretch without AD and now it's AD's turn to carry the team again to get them into the POs. Even a Bran stan such as yourself can admit that AD at least makes them a few games better, which right now is the difference between the 13th spot and the 6th seed. Mavs are sitting in the 5th spot with no talent around Luka, Pels are in 4th despite missing their two best players for long stretches. Lakers should be in that position with their two superstars and now's the time to make that run. The West is really mediocre this year and that should benefit the Lakers as they're looking to get healthy at the right time.
