I suspect you’ve seen the clips online. The girl who got slapped so hard she got up then did a front flip on her face somehow. This dude:

They called it because he was left looking like a Picasso. Endless humor and CTE talks to be found on the subject with the new league perhaps bringing the slap back.

there was a time in the NBA, where a player might just open hand slap you just to put you in your place. It obviously isn’t going to hurt you much, but you have to spend the rest of the day knowing that guy bitch slapped you in front of your kids and mother in law sitting court side. Maybe even twice:

It was a significant part of bully culture back then. And even bullies themselves got slapped by other bullies. Barkley slapped a good number of people including Oakley who this days insists…he slapped Charles:

So, when you hear Charles tell people on the inside the NBA he will slap the hell out of them. He’s not speaking figuratively.

The day may come he literally

again. And I for one encourage it. A return to the days someone slaps the utter **** outta someone for getting out of line and they either stood down in understanding or they fought it out and nobody got shot.

The shooting part I suspect is why slaps aren’t nearly as prevalent as they used to be in society. People won’t accept that level of shame and learn from it.

In the nfl they wear helmets. Stupid to slap a helmet. Nba though? Perfect league to get the shit slapped outta you. So I’ll take a few days and post some of my favorites till I forget. I’ll leave you alone for now.

It takes some serious stones to slap Oakley.

I remember hearing about a slap at an award show last year, but don't think there was any footage of it happening.

In general society I think it’s less common simply because there is always someone filming now, and you can technically be charged with assault just for a slap.

Before camera phones, if the slap was all that allegedly happened police would rarely be bothered to “investigate” something minor that there is little evidence of. But if someone has a direct video theyre pretty much forced to prosecute every time.

Well yea Will is of that era. I meant more among those who rule the day. You’re right that I should have mentioned it though as perhaps the most infamous slap in human history.

Will remembers when you slapped someone just to prove to them and onlookers they wouldn’t do shit about it.

I assume a lot of older people still adhere to the goon rules though. I don’t know that you grow out of it.

Having never been a goon I wouldn’t know. That said…I have slapped someone but I was left little choice. He was almost bullying me to be honest and I had to respond as it was in the locker room in high school. I slapped the shit out this dude and what ensued would…If I explained it….seem too after school special to be true. Suffice it to say I won a brief scuffle and had him back down…but?

The moment he was up as we were all leaving he said loudly:

”That’s why I ****ed your grandma”.

And here I am all these years later mad at myself all over again for not fighting him fully.

based on the events of the previous 30 seconds, I probably would’ve won, but I wasn’t exactly a fighter. I could handle myself, but at that time I wasn’t walking around like Billy bad ass.

I walked away like I didn’t hear it and nobody really acknowledged anything even happened. He didn’t **** with me anymore though.

Yeah, the sports court/field is one of the last safe havens for slapping. Youre not gonna get arrested, and at most youll take a few minor licks before it gets broken up. Youre not gonna catch a curb stomp in a sports fight. So it’s a pretty safe, and frankly unimpressive spot to go for the old fashioned pimp smack.

They do tend to get broken up. Even then they would. But I’m sure it still felt good to let off steam:

Called the fight. Gave the other guy whatever their version of a TKO is. Didn’t let him continue.

Chuck was definitely not gonna get bullied. One guy who never cared about the Knicks or Pistons physical style. He’s gonna match or exceed whatever dirt you throw:

And even the pre soft NFL outlawed it. I don’t know how Dana is going to keep it going in the CTE era. Not like it’s boxing where you can protect yourself. These people are getting utterly destroyed with head shots back to back to back to back.

Assuming that’s the case(not saying it isn’t just that I have no knowledge of the fight) I’m reminded of a Star Trek scene:

Last time I was on a trip it was about day 2 or 3 and we were drinking all day and I could see one of my friends getting into it with this guy and I knew what was about to happen. I usually would have broken it up right there but I was kinda over it and just told the guy to **** off because my friend is gonna do some dumb shit. I turn back to the bar and ignore them and a minute or two later he starts grabbing this guys shirt by the front collar and was shaking him back and forth so I got up from the bar and started to get in between them and my friend slapped the shit out of the guy as I was breaking it up lol. One of the other guys friends who I didn’t even know was with him rushed in from a table in the back and I intercepted him and grabbed him by the arms and told him to not do it. The guy who got slapped sulked in the corner and was just watching us creepily for awhile with a crinkly ass stretched out shirt.

The fact that that shit is aired on TV is laughable. I hope all those people that compete in it get serious brain damage.

Darwin award winners there.

Barkley was in the era ... when no puzzy footing around was the norm.
He was known to brawl in Milwaukee... and after he retired he apologized to the city.

during his time , he had to stand up and say I am coming down the lane , no matter who you were.

Kerr getting punched by MJ his own teammate in practice tells you something about the league at that time.
