You could never actually expect them to ever win a ring. Someone clean the icing off MJ’s sneakers. Cake walk!

Another Friday spent at home getting upset at MJ who retired 20 years ago

Op is a winner

Maybe MJ should have cakewalked through an easy conference and then got raped in the finals when he faced a real team...rinse repeat

Yeah, Imagine a team with only 1 20 ppg scorer making the finals in this current league where scoring is easier than ever. Oh yeah, 2020 Heat. Who was the leading scorer for the 2013 and 2014 Spurs teams again? Memory getting foggy. What about 09 Orlando?

And just so it doesn't look like I'm just picking on Lebron, Kobe lost to the 04 Pistons and 08 Celtics, 2 teams who didn't have a 20 ppg scorer.

Spurs won a title with a declining Tony Parker leading them in scoring with 17 ppg in the POs..

Now come & tell me that TP in his last All-Star season was a better player than peak Kemp.

Iguadala won finals mvp in this era. Jason Terry outplayed Lebron. Tony Parker won finals mvp, Chauncey Billups won finals mvp. In the 90's you had to be top 2-3 to get those awards as the league was much stronger.

Whilst on topic, how many FMVP has LeSanta given his direct opponents?

Because anyone near GOAT status wouldn't even give one.
Surely he hasn't given 4 or more....surely.

Not really true when HOT Rod Williams was the highest paid player in the league. It's easier to structure super teams today. Most teams had a superstar and the drop off was big. During the 10s it was easier to structure a big 3. The Bulls had a GM who got gifted a super team at a bargain.
During the 10s you had multiple players qualified for an MVP. The only person this really hurt is Curry

Not really sold on this yet. Ecdysterones have been around for years. Not enough sufficient data and its relatively expensive. I can get a huge supply but I haven't decided if I want to capsule it yet. The wave isn't big enough for me to ride.

Shawn Kemp had a higher ppg in 1996 than Curry in 2016. Does this delegitimize Lebron's ring?

Also Carlos Arroyo beat Lebron and Jason Terry averaged more than Lebron.

It hurts your chances a lot but you can still build a great team around a non superstar. Every other team mj faced in the finals had 1 but Sonics were likely best team he faced. Only one that had a legitimate big 3 besides Phoenix and starting lineup had no holes.

Fun fact, the 2016 Warriors lost 9 games out of 82 in the regular season. They also lost 9 games throughout the playoffs out of 24. OKC had them 3-1.
Clearly not the greatest team of all time; just did very well during the regular season.
Only 1 team in the history of basketball has won 70+ games and the chip, and the FMVP, scoring title, league MVP, 1st team all defense/all-NBA was Michael Jordan that year.
Fun fact - the 1996 Bulls had the best winning % of all time for the entire year - 87-13, or 87% win percentage (First round was best of 5). Only lost 3 games in the entire 1996 playoffs, and 2 were after going up 3-0 on the Sonics. 2016 Warriors were 88-15, or 85.4% win percentage.

Fun other fact - That 1996 Sonics team went 64-18 and were no joke. Had 5 players that averaged in the double digits scoring for the entire year (Payton, Kemp, Hawkins, Perkins, Schrempf) and 2nd in the league for overall defensive rating (Payton was DPOY in 1996). #1 in the league with fewest turnovers as well. Watching all the games live at age 22, I never really thought they'd beat Chicago though.
