Here are the stats for Luka last 21 games after his somewhat slow start.

34.7 ppg 9.6 rpg 8.5 apg

49/36/73

12-9 record.

It's pretty obvious who is the MVP huh?

Barring some drop off in play, W-L record or injury, Jokic has MVP on lock, which is insane to think considering how often voter fatigue comes into play.

Numbers that used to be unthinkable don’t make anyone an obvious mvp these days. There are like 7 prime Jordan’s in the league now by the numbers and 3-4 prime Hakeems. Luka, Giannis, Jokic, and Embiid all have some form of “Never been seen….” number combinations every year or two.

These numbers have to be compared to each other and when you do that Lukas don’t stand out. He’s obviously great it’s just that the numbers don’t stand out among peers like those numbers would have in the past.

Makes the mvp talk have to consider more things. He’s somewhere in the top 5 but he’s far from clear. I don’t think he’s even leading the league in scoring with that run. And the team is meh.

He won’t likely win it like this.

This.

Kobe didn't win it when he averaged 35/5/5 or whatever it was back in 2006...nor do I think he should have.

Luka is obviously an all-time great and is having an amazing season, but why would he be the obvious MVP when Jokic is putting up 25/11/10 and his team is close to having the best record in the league?

Shit, didn't even realize Joel was doing 33/10/4...and the Sixers have a much better record. He's missed some games, but he's definitely deserving of being right there with anyone.

And Giannis 31/12/5 on 53% on a team on pace for like 54 wins and people say he’s having a down year. And Tatum 31/9/4 with a better record than them. And you could argue Durant is better than all of them considering where he got that team from where it started and that he’s doing 30/7/5 on 56/38/93 which doesn’t even sound real.

The numbers alone won’t do it for anyone anymore.

To win off sheer production in this era and going forward? You might need 38/12/8 or something.

Jokic is averaging 25/11/10 on 70%TS in 33mpg and his team is 1st in the west by 3 games. They're not all that talented outside of Jokic.

So the answer is LeBron.

It's likely he'll win the mvp award for the third straight time.
