So who is the next one to hit 80? I feel like it will happen in the next few years. Who would you bet on? I feel like Embiid might shoot for it if he got close. Dame too.

It'll be a high volume SG. It's lame to say Dame or Booker because they've already hit 70 but it could be them.

Taking 40+ shots in a game regardless of how much you score isn't really cool these days though because of how open things are, so it'll be tough.

In all seriousness I could see Lebron doing this.

It has to be someone whose teammates suck because the game would have to still be competitive to justify leaving them in long enough. Guys like Curry and Durant who play on loaded teams rarely get a chance to go for these kinds of records, because if they're that hot to begin with the team usually blows someone out. Also I dont really count overtime games for these sorts of feats, so to me Mitchell's 71 isnt really 71.

It's not like Lebron has slowed down as a scorer. He can get as hot as anyone from behind the arc at this point in his career, and he can still finish at the rim too. He's been up near 50 multiple times this season.

If anything stops him it'll be the refs.

KD should have gone for 70 at this point but for as prodigious a scorer he is, he's doesn't tend to really go out of pocket with shot attempts. I feel like at some point Steph should have done something crazy like 18 threes and gotten close. Mitchell and Booker are low hanging fruit choices because it wouldn't take much to go from 70 to 80. Kobe hit 28 field goals, 'only' 7 of them were threes, and he got 18 free throws.
