Just saying. He lead the league in assists and won the ring that year. Am I right? So why did he play point forward every year other than that year if it worked?

Even though Bron is a pass first player at heart, he wasn't SO PASS FIRST that he had to play PG. Because he's a 6'9 250-260 pound freak athlete who is a 27-30 PPG scorer and triple double threat. Plus can play and defend four to five different positions. When you have all that going for you, SF-point forward is the ideal position.

Magic at 6'9 was BORN to play PG in the old school sense. Because he was a pass first even pass 2nd player at heart. BUT he also had alpha dog scoring in his arsenal. So he could level up his scoring. BUT he was the best floor general of all time. And was AT HIS BEST when playing with a true SG and SF on the perimeter.

OF COURSE Bron could have lined up at PG FLAT OUT his entire career. And been great at it. But he was BEST SUITED to be at the SF-point forward spot. The one Pip put on the map in the modern era. And Grant Hill took to the next level. And from there, Bron became the GOLD STANDARD for that shit! Once again ALL THREE pass first players. But not PASS FIRST ENOUGH to where their primary position needed to be PG.

But with players like Magic, Bron, G Hill, and Pippen, they ALL have lined up at four different positions at various times anyway. Bron and Magic all five positions. Just so happens they have a PRIMARY position! Magic best suited at PG. Bron, Pip, Hill as SF-point forward.

Another factor is the defensive end. IF u play a 6'9 PG, u GOTTA factor in what position is he best suited to guard?? Magic WASN'T suited to defend small PG's. Actually was best defending SF's and PF's. BECAUSE at 6'9 225, that his size range. FROM THERE, u gotta do cross matchups. Are the SG or SF SUITED to defend smaller PG's. Lakers were VERY LUCKY because B Scott and Coop could defend PG's effective enough. So defensively it worked out well.

If Magic played on other teams, playing him at PG FLAT OUT wouldn't have been as seamless. Magic would have been great of course, BUT defensively the team might not have had the SG's or SF's to defend PG's effectively. When Bron played PG with the Lakers, he had KCP and Danny Green at the SG and SF. So he had guys who could defend PG's effective enough. If it was younger Bron played the PG flat out, he could have defended the smaller PG's FLAT OUT if he needed to. Which is different than Magic.

Thus the beauty of the point forward spot. Guys can STILL facilitate offense often. BUT they can stay on the floor with a PG as well. Everybody can defend their natural positions. And as the point forward you FLOAT IN AND FLOAT OUT of playmaking duties easier because you are on the court with a PG.
