If it’s the same top 10 as this, which I assume it is

https://m.basketnews.com/news-184821-charles-barkley-picks-his-top-10-nba-players-of-all-time.html

Having Kobe above LeBron isn’t even arguably one of the 5 dumbest things about it :lol Absolutely atrocious list.

The Bird/Magic omissions are funny.

Minus the 3 modern players of course and replacing them with the guys he mentioned were next(Magic, Bird, and Baylor) it wouldn’t be that shocking a list years ago.

I heard a lot of people have Oscar top 3 when I was coming up. Or just say flat out best they ever saw. And they weren’t talking about triple doubles either.

Id say a normal top 10 all time when I first got here was something like

Mj
Wilt
Russell
Kareem
Bird
Magic
Oscar
West
Doctor J

And that 10th could be Shaq or Hakeem.

I might be able to find an ish list from back then. I’ll check. But it wasn’t unusual to see all those names. We just stopped acknowledging West and Oscar existed at some point but Chuck may just have his traditional list plus replacing Bird and Magic with Kobe and Lebron and having to find room for Duncan.

Nobody would be shocked to see his list back in the day in its current order minus the modern additions.

Outside of LeBron at 1, the players in the top 10 after that are pretty close. You can pretty much mix and match and won't be too bad.

You can have shaq 2 or 8 and it's probably fine. Kobe obviously isn't top 10, so forcing him in there is weird.

Not a bad list but I don't know if I'd put Jerry West over Magic or Bird and I love Jerry West

I always exclude Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Moses, Oscar, so Kobe is in my top 10.

1. Jordan
2. Magic
3. Shaq
4. Lebron
5. Bird

6. Duncan
7. Kobe
8. Curry
9. Hakeem
10. Giannis (needs 1 more ring)

or Moses who broke him in

I think he did a good job with his list, I can respect Hakeem, West, and Duncan in the top ten

One could argue Kobe is #2

if you have MJ at #1.... who was the closest to mimic Michael Jordan? .... the answer is actually Kobe Bryant.

Lebron's isn't even the best of his ear. Curry has as many titles as him in less time despite Lebron stacking the deck.

here's the problem ...

1990's you had 40 years of players already the list is packed.

so now you have to take Kobe or Bird out of the top ten ....

Some where a criteria has to be established.

My thoughts are still All-star selections and rings. With of course MVP's.

Lists are subject to individual likes and dislikes.
How can you rule out Zeke , and have Bird , or Majic and Russell ... god grief that is why I stay clear of these topics.

My real list:
1. Jordan
2. KAJ
3. Wilt
4. Magic
5. Shaq
6. Bird
7. Duncan
8. Russell
9. Kobe
10. Lebron, and I toggle between him at #11 with Hakeem at #10.

Very fair point. From 2003-2010 it was Shaq/Kobe/Duncan, then probably Derek Rose in 2011, then Lebron in 2012/2013, then Durant/Currey/Giannis/Joker the rest of the time.
I can't think of a period where LBJ was the best in the league 3 years straight. Can you?

Well for starters LeBron has the greatest 5-year peak in NBA history.

From 2012-2016 he made five straight Finals and won 5 MVPS (3x FMVP, 2 xMVP) and he is the only player to do this is any 5-year stretch in NBA history (make 5 Finals and win 5 MVPs).

Get raped. Now clean yourself up because I'm coming back for seconds.
