The Dallas Mavericks are interested in acquiring Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton. Christian Wood & Tim Hardaway Jr. have been in trade talks. #NBA

Marc Cuban is not ****ing around, I like it.

I also like Ayton, he is an extremely skilled low post scorer, but he is also soft and not great in the PnR, I think he won't be a good fit with both Kyrie and Luka and will probably complain and leave, but hey, if they win a ring, maybe he stays.

With Luka, Kyrie and Ayton, Mavs would have the best offense in the league by far. These are 3 players that can go off and are pretty much unstoppable unless doubled or matched with a few defensive specialists.

You are not going to be able to deny them in a 7 game series.

Injuries and chemistry meltdowns over lack of touches would be the only thing stopping a ring.

Now we're talking. Now that becomes the best team in the West. Jokic and Co. would run through the Mavs right now. But adding Ayton and maybe the Mavs can get Crowder and it's game on.

Not a fan of Ayton, doesn't play D which what Dallas needs more than anything

They actually need rebounding more than D and Ayton is a good rebounder.

Irving vs the Celtics with the title on the line would be something and Doncic has had at least two buzzer beating game winning shots vs the Cs. But it would be hard for them to get Ayton when the Suns are also trying to win right now. Two teams like that will be hard to make a deal.

Doesn't seem like Suns fans are happy with it.

I'd also rather they went for Gobert, but I guess they can't trade him for as little as Mavs have.

Ayton has not been happy with Suns for a while now though. I think it's obvious he dislikes playing with Booker and maybe also Paul.

He hasnt been happy in Phoenix and that could be contributing to any lack of defensive effort.

He definitely has the tools to be a good defender. When he came in the league that was supposed to be the area he needed to improv, but I remember watching some of the tape on him and I thought he had good defensive tools to work with. He also memorably did a very nice job guarding Jokic when they met in the playoffs in 2021.

So I think he has good defensive potential. If he hasnt been using it that might be more of a mental/motivation thing than lack of ability.

Altho if the reason he hasnt been happy in Phoenix is because he hasnt been featured as much as he wants... well... that's probably not gonna be solved by going to Dallas with Luka and Kyrie :lol

But if Ayton is engaged and willing to play defense and play off of Luka and Irving, I think he'd be a great fit in Dallas.

That said, it would surprise me if this is the best deal Phoenix can get for him.

Can opinions don't dictate how teams value players. Subs new owner may want to put his stamp on the team but if he's trying to win right now which is how the team had operated they would only be trading Ayton for good players that help immediately. Dallas can't give them that while trying to contend themselves.

Can't win with a discontent player either.
