Budget Myles Turner!
[Charania] Sources said the Lakers are sending second-round draft compensation with Patrick Beverley to Orlando for Mo Bamba -- a major get for a reworked frontline around Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

Get rid of Pat is huge. He was total garbage considering the minutes he played.

Lakers wouldn't be below .500 if he didn't start out shooting 20% from 3 for like the first 20 games lol... He might be a good locker room guy like Russ but he didn't help much on the court because of how anemic he was offensively.

Glue guys are important, but less so on teams with LeGlue himself. He is the Great Uniter and will keep everyone focused on the goal.
Production-wise Beverly is trash at this point. Bamba is nothing special but it's not a bad trade IMO.

and so they arent playing around cause they got....

Pat Bev at east was still a key contributor in a couple clutch wins.

They could use his length and paint defense. The haul they got for Russ was pretty good too

Agreed, not a great trade.
Bamba to me is at best another Thomas Bryant type. Bev was more important when it matters.

Problem is theres not much talent around LeHecules to begin with, so theyve got to put as much talent in the lineup as they can. Glue guys like Bev are nice when they're playing on rosters that already have talent. You cant really afford to give them minutes if they lineup sucks to begin with.
Lakers need to squeeze every drop of production out of every position they can, because there isnt much there in the first place. Which means theyre not gonna have many minutes for him. Might as well swap him for another bench warmer who's at least younger and might have modest trade value in the years ahead.
