So.



Give me a team to suit that line. Here’s what I’m asking for….




A core(or entire lineup if you’re bored) built entirely of players you personally consider below average on D who would win anyway. Not if they are surrounded by incredible defenders(if you just give me a core of 3-4 guys). People who would win with the obviously terrible D that would result from an entire squad of less than average defenders.


If you wanna include a guy like Steph you can…with the understanding that you are saying he’s a bad defender. I’d say he’s about average so he wouldn’t be eligible for me but maybe he is for you. I figure maybe that makes some of you think since you won’t want to openly acknowledge your favorite player’s deficiencies but some might just use it to name players they hate or whatever. Ish always finds a way to troll. I’m not too concerned. Just give me your “I don’t care how bad the D is…this team would win” squad of bad defenders.

My problem is that too many guys I initially want to use are probably just average defenders with bad reputations due to being stars people pay disproportionate attention to. That’s why I don’t know if I wanna use Steph, Dirk, Melo, or Bird types.

I think I’m comfortable with all these guys

They fit the standard but I’m not sure that team could win.

Guarding point guards I could add Magic I guess but when they used him on wings and forwards his size he wasn’t noteworthy in his bad defense.


Dominique Wilkins maybe? I might sneak Nique in there. I need another 2 though.

Was Ben Gordon really that noticeably bad of a defender? I didn't follow his career that closely when he played, but I don't remember him having that kind of rep.

I'd throw Mullin & Love into the mix. Would KAT qualify for you?

Mullin fits. Ben to me wasn’t that bad but he had a great defense some years that helped. The era helped as well. He had the rep of bad and I wouldn’t fight it too much. Though next to Kirk most looked bad.

KAT might fit as well but he could just as easily be a “He’s a star so people pay attention” type.

There was talk that they should be splitting minutes because the offense was better with him and he could hold his own on defense according to some of the early number obsessed types.

Oh I know. I distinctly remember some early “**** your numbers….” talk on the subject. I see now he was up there in offensive rebound rate but I’m sure we didn’t have those numbers in 2004 so I don’t even know what was being used. But I remember being disgusted. But I did like him when he was on Utah.

Do people believe Jokic is an actual bad defender or bad in relation to his status?

That's a good question. He's not utterly terrible, but in my opinion he's below average for a center. He can rebound, but his man-to-man defense and rim protection are lackluster.

I think some of it is traditionally there is more expectations defensively at Center then a lot of other positions. So a Center with poor or average defense gets put under a microscope about it more then if they played another position.

I understand and don’t fully disagree it’s just I don’t usually watch him and notice the other team just…really having a plate of him. I admit I’ve seen it before though. A few guards getting him on an island and making him look bad.
