When is Simmons back?

Moving forward
Simmons and Thomas/dinwiddie
Bridges, johnson
Claxton

Tank? Nets can keep their pick this year as Houston will have a higher pick probably yes?

I read Nets are shutting Simmons down for the season and will try trade him this summer even tho his trade value is apparently zero.

Interesting. Not much else they can do. He has no lift or confidence.

Simmons is undervalued but obviously has issues to recover from.

I'm not sure it's possible for Simmons to be undervalued.

Crazy how fast things changed. Dude was number 1 draft pick, rookie of the year, 3 consecutive years an all-star, nba all defensive first team, etc. And then it took 1 playoff series and he shut down. I remember when he missed a few games on the sixers and they lost without him where they showed numbers how much better they are when he plays and he’s the most impactful player on the team before Embiid and look now lol.

I hear kidneys are going for like $60k these days, so he still has value.

He had a good +/- his rookie year, and then he was fully scouted and figured out. Teams realized he wasn't finishing ambidextrously, and refused to shoot. You just play him on his strong hand when he drives, foul him if you have to, and sag off him if he doesn't have the ball. It absolutely kills your team's spacing and ball-movement.

The same thing happened to Tyreke Evans after his rookie year. Teams realized he was doing those spin moves to cope with the fact that he wouldn't lay it up with his off-hand. The defense used that to kill the rest of his game. You can't have gaping holes like that in your game at the NBA level for long.

Simmons was a fake All-Star, forcing try-hard transition possessions in the regular season (and not even efficient ones! Consistently near the bottom of the league in PPP on fast-break possessions). These disappear in the playoffs. He was fools gold for people who don't understand what it means to be valuable in a 5-on-5 context.

Great first part but you lost me on the second part.

e.g Tyreke Evans drop off baffled me at the time but you raise good points.

I am still positive on Simmons as he still makes good contributions despite what you say. E.g defensively and screen setting this year - even injured.

The guy still has vast potential but needs to show commitment to basketball and good health.

Golden State could use him now.
