He had a great stretch before ASB but is a mediocre player overall. It does matter if you're trying to provide context, but Mann is a role player at the end of the day and replacing him with a similar player in Russ is not the reason why they're losing these games. Clipper fans and Russ haters are acting as if Mann is a great player when he's expendable.

Lue playing these awful rotations when he has a deep roster is the issue here. Why is Eric Gordon starting & playing almost 34 minutes? Why does he wait until garbage time to play RoCo? If Russ is such a nightmare, why is he playing him all these minutes and why does he have him out there in crunch time? Why does he have Russ out there with a non-shooter for so many minutes?

Well they let Reggie Jackson go for a reason. He wasn't playing that well for them in the last few months. John Wall was even worse. Replacing those guys with Russ playing a 6man role isn't a bad thing for a team as deep as the Clippers. You'd take Russ for next to nothing to play a 6-8 man role if you know he's willing to come off the bench like he did in LA. He's in a spot where he's probably willing to do anything to get some positive rep back. It's puzzling to me that coaches keep playing him in crunch time when he has horrible tendencies in the biggest moments.

I subscribe to the theory that players themselves are actually the worst evaluators of talent due to their own personal biases and lack of time objectively studying the game (they spend most of their lives practicing and playing, not evaluating).

Playing the game at the highest level actually deters you, on average, from being able to be objective and intelligent when analyzing other players.
