1....we only have 1 lockdown on ball defender in the entire league anymore.... no kawhi is not locking anyone up anymore...no jimmy butler is not locking anyone up anymore.
Wiggins would have to do it again in the playoffs before i consider him a lockdown player.
edit - and nah, i can't consider marcus smart a lockdown player because I've never seen him shutdown a notable player before. Jrue had his series vs dame where he locked him down and outplayed him. Marcus smart has never had a series like that in his fkin life

I just....i just cant remember the last time i seen a star say "i got him 94 feet for the whole game coach"....when is the last time a paul George said that? when is the last time a jimmy butler said that? When is the last time tatum started off with a hot 20 points in the 1st quarter and a Devin booker said "i got em coach". NBA outlaws defense and the ratings fking plummet lol.... when will they learn? Yeah skills are at an all time high in the league but IQ and defense is at an all time low :oldlol:.

Lebron was (and is, when healthy) the last true defensive nightmare for opposing playmakers.
After Him, the game will never be the same.

Funny enough I was thinking about this a few days ago. I think current rules have mostly neutered the idea of a true man to man lockdown defender, at least compared to the names we think of from the past. Kawhi's defense became spotty the moment his scoring went into the mid-high 20s. It takes a crazy motor to go all out on both ends for 35-40 mins. Frankly if you're loaded up with enough 3 point shooters it's basically a race to 125 points, and play just enough defense to hold your opponent under that.

When Dennis Schroeder is engaged I am very impressed by his lockdown defense but he primarily only does it on big names like Curry or Chris Paul. He will legitimately hassle a player from baseline to baseline and fight over screens and not allow a switch
I also like Caruso

Davion Mitchell and motivated De'aaron Fox both capable to play lockdown defense
