It's hard to argue against Jokic being the most "valuable" player to his team. Is he the most valuable player in the league? I guess that depends on what it means.

Yeah but I think you have to take that with a handful of salt, the Nuggets have a frontloaded roster with an elite starting lineup. Sixers and Bucks are deeper but less top heavy. So that probably skews the contrast in how the teams perform from first unit to second unit.

That said, it’s clear Jokic has a more consistent offensive impact with regards to lifting the entire team’s level. But I would imagine he also has the most favorable circumstance for measuring on/off data.

Ive never understood why theres a debate around that question and why people try to argue about who is “most valuable to their team” etc.

It’s the NBA MVP. It’s clearly intended to go to the highest level performer regardless of circumstance. But obviously fans and journalists will always find a way to ram their own narrative in there.

the NBA (ie-media) would never pick the best player on the Rockets team for example signifing he was MVP of the league for the season.
Jokic could walk away with 5- of them , but never win a chip :lol  :lol
