I'm not talking from a personal standpoint, that honor goes to James Dolan. That guy is a comic book character villain.

I'm talking about from a management standpoint. What has the Hornets/Bobcats franchise done in the last 13 years since he took over that franchise as majority owner? They have only made the post-season twice and have never had more than 48 wins in that timespan. He has a horrible track record in drafting. I mean, let's think for a second, who is the best draft pick he's drafted in his tenure? LaMelo?

This guy?

That is why MJ won't speak to Barkley any more. Barkley called him out for poor management, saying he was surrounded by yes men.

Drafting Morrison and MKG top 3 were just disasterous moves.

Letting Kemba go was a very good move though.

Yea MJ didn't do much but there's no guarantee others would have done better. They were an expansion franchise in 2003 IIRC and a small market that isn't attractive to free agents. But yea MJ could have and should have done more with the clout he has. Maybe it's just not his priority.

Adam Morrison actually could have been great. I don't think he's a bad draft choice without hindsight. MKG was rough passing on Lillard, Beal and Drummond.

Barkley said from the beginning that Morrison was a lousy pick. Granted that draft was pretty weak but he was out of the league in 3 years. He was awful when he did play.

Morrison had massive injury issues. He was a beast in college.

He played 78 games his rookie year and didnt show much for a 22 year old rookie.

He was only a beast in his last year in college. A lot of guys that show out in college don't do much in the NBA.

It was too early to call him a bust as a rookie. Anyways agree to disagree. I don't think anyone thought Morrison was a bad pick at the time.

Jordan's been better recently. Maybe he's taking a more hands-off approach?

And the MKG and Morrison drafts were bad examples. Just about every basketball outlet had MKG going 2nd to AD, and Morrison just averaged 28 ppg in college and was in a weak draft.

Sadly, the two all-time greats are no longer friends. Barkley has shared that the rift is based on the Turner commentator’s public criticism of Jordan as the Charlotte Hornets owner. However, Barkley recently revealed the rift in the friendship started in private, with a disagreement over former Gonzaga star Adam Morrison back in 2006.

I was calling Michael to give him some advice on the draft. And this is the first time we ever had a real disagreement. I said, ‘Who you thinking about taking?’ He says, ‘I’m thinking about taking Adam Morrison.’ I said, ‘What!? You can’t take Adam Morrison.’ I said, ‘Michael, he doesn’t have a position. No. He might be a nice kid…’ He says, ‘Well, my coaches like him.’ I said, ‘Let me ask you a question. Did you say you liked him first?’… ‘Michael, nobody wants to disagree with you. They intimidated by you.’ [Jordan responded], ‘F*** you, mother*****!’ These guys can be honest!’

Honestly just looked up the Bobcats/Hornets draft history since 2006... It's incredible that they rarely ever got high picks despite being a bad team. They actually had some horrible draft luck... :lol

They've only had four high picks:
2006 - Rd 1 3rd Pick -- Adam Morrison
2012 - Rd 1 2nd Pick -- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
2013 - Rd 1 4th Pick -- Kemba Walker
2020 - Rd 1 3rd Pick -- Lamelo Ball

Other than MKG others are pretty good selections. And having no other pick in the top 7 in 17 drafts is incredibly unlucky considering they didn't sell almost any lottery picks.
