I hear athletes use this 2 or 3 times during interviews. It's not as bad as saying...."you know" every other sentence. You can throw "it is what it is" in there too.

I agree, but at the end of the day it's a good phrase. It is what it is.

"At the end of the day" is a good way to go straight to your main point or re-enforce a point. Depends on the conversation I guess.

I can't imagine being annoyed about it and things of that nature...

This brings back the memory of Fox broadcasting US Open golf for the first time. Greg Norman was in the booth and said "at the end of the day" so many times it was just comical. Seemed like he couldn't string together two sentences without saying it.

bottom line > at the end of the day

you're giving the person hope for tomorrow when using the phrase at the "end of the day", it's not final enough. It's not the end, it's just the end of one day.

When you are explaining something to somebody, and giving them an understanding of the situation and you really need to emphasize a particular point... go with the phrase Bottom Line.

When it's the bottom line... It's the End. It's Final.

You wouldn't tell somebody "at the end of the day, you owe me $500" for example. Better to use Bottom Line.
