If that person contributed it 500 years ago, then it probably wouldn't even show up in my genetics because the percentage is exponential.

Another example is my last name. For all my life we always thought that our background was of this particular country, because of the last name. But then I had genetic test done, and it wasn't even close. The last name was passed down, due to a male lineage.
