Not just about Jokic. But people talk about his efficiency and triple doubles. If he isn’t a threat to win, then what do all those stats even mean?
It’s not just him. Doncic isn’t a championship player. Many stars in this league are not like that.
What ever to happened to winning? Why do we glorify stats that won’t get you to the big dance? Winning is secondary now? Is that what we’ve come to? Jordan, Kobe and Duncan cared about winning
The excuse is no help. But even if they had the help you think they need, then they wouldn’t have the stats that you glamorize. What about the eye test and defense? Who cares about fancy advanced state that get you nowhere
You sound like a goddamn imbecile

Nuggets have the second best record in the league. How is he not a threat to win?

I don’t sense that feeling. Remember when Dirk was pressured so hard to finally win? He was criticized before he had a ring. Jokic has no expectations

That's not true. A lot of people are criticizing Jokic and use his lack of post-season success as a season why he shouldn't win his 3rd MVP, or they're saying that he needs to win this year in order to justify his MVPs, which is stupid. They did the same with Giannis in 2021 before he won a title.
It's hard not to give the MVP to Jokic when he's leading his team to the best record in the WC while still putting up numbers on par with his previous MVP seasons.
Issue here is that Denver hasn't proven they could win in the POs with their current core as Murray's been injured the past few seasons. They pretty much have the #1 seed locked up so they are under immense pressure to have a deep Playoff run, but it's really hard to favor them to make it there when there's teams like the Lakers, Warriors & Clippers who they could end up facing as early as the 1st round, and then it's likely that they're facing Phoenix in the 2nd. Suns didn't have KD to start the season so they're a lower seed than they probably would have been (same with the Lakers trading Russ at the deadline) and if he's healthy in the POs I don't see people picking Denver over them.

Denver has a 6.5 game lead in the West. :facepalm
What year exactly did the Nuggets underachieve in the playoffs?
Jokic is only 27. Dirk was 32 when he won the title.

I mean it's borderline unwatchable to see most teams nowadays and even worse to hear the players speak outside of the games. If I wanted to watch a similar product to the NBA, I would literally just go to my local rec league w/ all the dudes jacking 3s like they are Steph and then want to fight you if you try to play defense :lol

But if Jokic is a 3 time soon MVP, the standards should match. He’s a big boy. No more baby-ing

What’s the obsession with pretty stats nowadays? Jordan, Kobe, Duncan were into winning

You're repeating what you already said, are you really that dimwitted?

It's actual shit, literally don't even turn a game on anymore...waste of league pass...don't even check scores, couldn't give a flying fvck.
Hoping the playoffs help bring back some intrest, but the sport right now is pure shit
I usually love watching good teams battle it out, regardless of who they are, but even now, couldn't give 2 fvcks.
Boring
'Not about winning'? Umm hello. Last i've checked there's always a team that wins the finals every year regardless of circumstances, doofus.

Ah, a take that at least makes a lot of sense.

denver just hasnt had a chance to prove themselves with this core last 2 seasons. Special situation with murray tearing his acl and porters general injury issues. This is the year that could open up the criticism. you cant win without a good roster, the nuggets were playing campazzo 25mpg+ in the playoffs in 21 lol, the 22 team was even worse with no porter.
and yes people absolutely glorified players stats when they knew those stars were in situations where a title wasnt happening through no fault of their own

At some point though the games have to count. Can’t have excuses for an entire career.

I’m saying players don’t care to try to win. That’s secondary. Jokic for instance cares a little more about his triple double. We hear more about his 10 assists than how much they’re winning. There’s zero pressure on him to actually win.

Yet if it's the other way around, which is winning without putting up many stats (ala bill russell), you're likely to point out the opposite anyway. :confusedshrug:
