When Lebron returns, he'll become a 2nd player in the Lakers' starting lineup with a point guard hold-time, which abnormally-lowers teammates assists and yields a low-assist TEAM that can't hang on the championship level regardless of cast (low team ceilings/Finals records).

It's impossible for a young ball-handler to develop when a teammate is lowering everyone's assists, which is why Ingram saw a 1-year drop across the board alongside Lebron (3-point efficiency, PER, BPM, WS/48, VORP), along with other ball-handlers like Wade, Hughes, Westbrook, Rose, IT, Clarkson and also forwards like Kuzma, Bosh, Love, or Jamison.

The only player-types that don't decline alongside Lebron are elite shooters (Mo/Kyrie) or low-caliber guys like Delly that are already spot-up shooters.

But developing a "Delly" won't win titles.. Guys like Ingram, Pippen, Draymond or Hughes must be developed, which Lebron can't do because his abnormal ball-dominance for his size and position imposes spot-up roles (stats above).. These spot-up roles stall young players, thereby needing ready-made stars to win, aka Lebron's skillset lacks the teammate development, fits or brand of ball to win organically and must resort to talent-based winning (team-hopping; all-star team strategy).

OP is spot on though. Lakers better hope that LeShrivel is out long enough to not drag them back into the lottery.
