Odds went from +400 yesterday(2nd) to +115 (1st) after the Cavs game. 1st time someone new has been favorited since November

I still don't buy it, voters will do anything to bring him down. The hype is just setting him up for a bigger fall.

There is no way in hell Bill Simmons and his goons will let Jojo get the MVP.

He has bigger fish to fry. Gotta stay focused, do his best to stay healthy cause the real goal is after April.

No matter what they say he is the best scorer and the best two way player in the world, nobody can really argue with that.

With jokic falling. Wouldn’t be shocked if they gave it to Giannis out of spite.

He’s that dude right now for sure. I’d vote for him.

I know the numbers don’t do it justice but Mobley played him pretty well tonight too. Especially in the 4th. Dude kept making shots.

Yeah I see the exact same thing happening.

Simmons is damned pissed off his boy Tatum is virtually out of the race now.

He HATES Joel, no way in hell he would ever let the award slip into Joel's hands instead of Tatum. Don't ever underestimate Bill Simmons' power and influence.

That being said I still believe Joker has it in the bag. Most of the voters want him to have it and want to be the ones to prove "voter fatigue" doesn't exist and be apart of history by being the ones responsible for giving him 3 straight MVP's.

Just listening to people like Zach Lowe and Kevin O'Connor (another Simmons' goon). They are holding firm and not changing their mind, no way, no how.

I have thought all along that the MVP isn't decided. IMO Giannis is in 3rd for two reasons. First he has missed 15 games, the most of the 3 and more than any MVP this century. Also his shooting has been off, even by his low standards, from the foul line, midrange and from 3.

Embiid has a legit shot but he can't miss any more games. He has missed 13 which is too many already. However i do think that voters want to vote for him since he has been 2nd twice and the other two guys have won twice.

I think you think other people care more than they do about if Embiid gets an mvp or not.

Maybe, possibly I am.

But it is a fact Bill Simmons hates Embiid and Embiid has stated publicly that Simmons shouldn't have a vote.

Morey even called Simmons out about his influence in the All-Star starter snub this year.

No way the most powerful man in sports podcast history is going to vote for Joel. That has to be pretty damn obvious.

I guess we just wait and see how this plays out... again.

I wouldn't be putting my money on Joel to win the award.

Giannis shouldn't even be in the conversation, the guy has missed far too many games.

so when does the jokic should give back his first two mvp campaign start

since he obviously can't play defense

because nick wright and some smear campaign clips said so

when his coach

who being an nba coach probably doesn't know anything about basketball

thinks he's good and deserved all defense consideration last year

but let's say his defense slipped a bit this year

so then it's like last year when people said well gobert is the best defender in the league

but he's not as good as he was the year before

and smart sure is complaining a lot about not winning

so let's give it to him

and i'm supposed to take any of this seriously

here's perkins on twitter

"F those advanced stats and that plus/minus BS!!!"

yet denver's coach says he likes analytics

i see people saying on twitter "ban advanced stats"

as if their opinion based on block stats or a faulty eye test is bulletproof

the most widely circulated newspaper in the us

referencing reddit videos of jokic being bad at defense

you know the discourse has hit an all time low and this world is doomed

Don't believe for one minute that Jokic is not still leading for MVP, Vegas wants people to place bets. Denver haven't played well the last few games but Joker is still scoring 30 plus is those games and they are still first in the west with a 4 game lead.

It's called the McConnell effect.

All-Defensive First Team selection Jrue Holiday picks McConnell up wide on the wing but can't contain his penetration and is easily beaten.

He gets in deep and All-Defensive First Team selection and former Defensive Player of the Year, Giannis Antetokounmpo realizes how much of a threat McConnell is in the paint. He comes over to help his burnt teamate with a late double.

McConnell finds Turner open to deliver the final death blow.

“Like, I believe—and I know—that people are dominating. So what is the MVP? Is it the guy who scores the most points? Is it the guy who’s the most efficient? Is it the guy who is the most dominant? Is it the guy who is the most valuable?” Antetokounmpo said. “Sometimes, the best player isn’t the most valuable player on the team. Like, I feel like [Bucks center] Brook [Lopez] is such a valuable player for our team. Like [the MVP criteria] just f------—sorry for my language—it just changes. As I said again, I can’t control that. I can control only how I prepare for the game and try to be ready for the game.”

somebody get him a tissue

sounds like he's about to cry

all jokic says is it'd be nice to get mvp but i'm just trying to win games

only to have braindead perkins say he's stat padding

only to have draymond come to jokic's defense over the perkins comments

and gilbert arenas of all people come to jokic's defense about the defense stuff lately

joker stays winning

Embiid is now on top of the Kia MVP ladder.

https://www.nba.com/news/kia-mvp-ladder-march-17-2023-edition

In recent years all 3 guys have played like MVPs. Two guy have won but embiid hasn't, that's why I think embiid will get the nod in a close race.

With multiple players and coaches weighing in, Hall of Fame specialist and former NBA Coach of the Year George Karl has also offered his opinion on which of the two big men – Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic – should win the accolade. “I don’t want to bad mouth Embiid because I think he’s really really good. A lot of my assistant coaches when he was in Philadelphia when he was a young player, they kept telling me that he was going to be the best guy to ever play the game. I see him moving in that direction but he takes too many possessions off. He has lazy body language,” Karl said on SiriusXM NBA Radio (https://basketnews.com/news-186954-george-karl-criticizes-joel-embiid-he-has-lazy-body-language.html). “He gets angry at things that we don’t understand why,” the coach continued. “I just don’t know if he’s that NBA pro that we all loved because he’s a competitive SOB. From what I know in Philadelphia, everybody says he’s playing great. In games I’ve seen, he played really really well. He’s played great in the 4th quarters, came up with a lot of comeback wins. I can only like one big guy, and I take Jokic over Embiid.”

you sound like Jazz fans when they used to say Deron Williams was better than Chris Paul because of head to head matchups. Ron Boone I believe was the one vote against Chris for rookie of the year because Deron out played him :facepalm

They've been 1 & 2 in MVP voting for the past 3 seasons. And if it's a close race it absolutely will. They're 1 and 2 and play each other like a week before the season ends and records are almost identical.

Last season the Sixers played the Bucks in one of last games of the regular season and Giannis had a big game with a block on Embiid that sealed a win.

The podcasters, blog boys and the rest of the scum, who all also happened to be voters, all openly ruled out Joel as a candidate and spent the next week saying as much because of this what happened in this game.

One head to head much up does matter. I don't believe a whole season should be ignored because of one game, but these idiots who vote clearly do and they are waiting and hoping for one to happen now.

The match up on the 3/27 is gonna be huge. If Denever wins you bet your ass the little weasels will be back on Joker's dick as quick as they can be.

The Sixers play the Bucks on the last day of the season too. Let's see if Bud sits the whole team like last year against the Celtics. It didn't work out for them last season but the have less on the line this time. Except maybe Giannis' MVP chances, although he has already missed too many games already to be have a real shot at it now.

This year is definitely a close race. It could go between Jokic or Embiid. Although I feel like Giannis is the best player in the league rn, and may be a dark horse to win it too.

Stats-wise, this year is straight-up Jokic or Embiid.
