Scoot Henderson is the presumptive 2nd overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, but right now Brandon Miller is emerging as the 2nd overall draft pick after his solid games in Alabama. Henderson had an up-and-down performance during the G League’s regular season.

Should Dallas trade Luka Doncic for Scoot Henderson, since dallas is only .500 and 8th in a weak western conference? Should the Grizzlies trade Ja for Scoot Henderson because he can't seem to stay out of trouble and has worse stats than Trae Young? Should OKC trade SGA for Scoot Henderson because they even smell the playoffs in a weak western conference?
Maybe Zion or Chet Holgrem since they stayed injured should be traded too?

Trae Young is a modern monta ellis

Low efficiency high volume shooter and a liability on the defensive end.

OP should be traded to RealGM for a Spounalis bobblehead.

When I found this statistic I was expecting to see Monta Ellis but it was Archibald. Come to think of it when was Monta Ellis top 5 in assist in points. If you are going to throw out comparisons, have something legitimate or just say you don't like the guy.

Young averaged 28.4 points and 9.7 assists in the 2021-22 regular season. More impressively, the 23-year-old became the second player in NBA history to lead the league in total points and total assists. The only other player was Tiny Archibald in the 1972-73 season.

That's such a good comp. He would definitely need a team built like the Warriors..or maybe Kings to have a shot and definitely couldn't be their #1 player

Trae is one of the best playmakers in the league though, Monta is not close to him.

Trae already took the Hawks to the ECF and had them up against the eventual champions before getting hurt. Who was the other star player on that team? What did Monta ever do in his career that was similar? I'll wait but I suspect you won't even try to answer the questiions.

Actually very similar to the old Al Horford Atlanta Hawks teams where they had a bunch of role players around him and yet never good enough to go to the next level. Let's also just ignore that the majority of Trae's other seasons he never even made the playoffs...

Of course Trae is overall better than Monta though. The point is that he's never shown that he could do anything of note as a #1 guy BUT could absolutely thrive as a number 2 guy imo

Nah, Joe Johnson was the offensive anchor of those Hawks teams, Al was a glue guy the offense never ran Horford. Those teams are not good comp because they never sniffed the ECF finals, so the Trae Young hawks have already eclipsed there deepest playoff run. The only comparable Atlanta Hawks star to Trae Young is Domique Wilkins, he is putting up historic numbers but the causuals dismiss it because they can't stand him. Mike Budenholzer left Atlanta because the new owner and GM wanted to tank, and Budenholzer didn't want to go through a rebuild hoping to find great players through the lottery. Trae was drafted on a team that was intentionally tanking which is why the entire team was rookies and a few 2nd year players for two years.
Trae is having an off year but it's still much better than the best year that Monta or Hortford had in their ENTIRE career. Let that sink in.

Monta wasn't even good as a #2 guy though
