Kevin McHale's career high in rebounds is 18. He accomplished that twice. Not bad, right?

Just for comparison, the Celtic 80s front line rebound numbers

-Robert Parish had 29 games (10 as a Warrior) of 20+ rebounds with a high of 32 (Celtic high 25)
-Larry Bird had 10 games of 20+ with a high of 21 (3x)
-Cedric Maxwell while never reaching 20, his high was 19. One more than McHale's.
-McHale reached over 15 rebounds a total of 11x, Cornbread 9x
-Bill Walton's high as a Celtic in 80 games, 17.

His peers through his playing career. All-Star PF's only, no centers included.

Barkley has the most 20+ rebound games in the playoffs on that list, with 16.

Rodman and Hayes both had 8.

Barkley was one of the best rebounded of all time. Especially in the playoffs.

Given that this thread is about McHale, his playoff high was 17.

I think it's fair to say that at his peak for a couple of seasons Mchale reached around Paul Pierce level. The rest of the time he's around Tony Parker level player.

Bird and Parish got a lot of boards. Walton led the league per 48 minutes in '86. This isn't surprising.

he got out rebounded by two other HOFers. Not sure the issue here. He had his role and was great at it

Literally who cares.

KD's never scored 60 and still one of the 5 best scorers ever

wouldn't mean much if he scored 60 now

On a per-game basis, the Kings’ 120.9 points per game are on pace to trail only the 1980s Nuggets for the highest single-season scoring average since the ABA-NBA merger in 1976. (https://theathletic.com/4319993/2023/03/17/the-bounce-kings-nba-best-offense/) The four Denver teams ahead of Sacramento played roughly 11 more possessions per game than the Kings currently do, which is why the latter’s offensive rating is also bonkers. Sacramento is scoring 119.4 points per 100 possessions this season, leading to an offensive rating higher than last year’s Brooklyn Nets, who recorded the NBA’s highest single-season offensive rating since the league first tracked the metric during the 1996-97 season. Those Nets had James Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving for portions of the season.

Even think about the Chicago Bulls for a second. Their 24th-ranked offense is awful, right? That is often the case for any team ranked 24th in offensive rating within a given season — near the bottom of the NBA. But it’s also technically a top-89 mark in league history! That’s right, folks: this season’s WORST offenses technically rank among the best ever. Think about this year’s Washington Wizards and their middle-of-the-pack scoring (16th entering Friday). (https://theathletic.com/4319993/2023/03/17/the-bounce-kings-nba-best-offense/) Their offensive rating is on par with Mike D’Antoni’s “Seven Seconds Or Less” Suns.

Forty-five percent of the greatest team scoring seasons of all-time are happening this season. I know I sound like a narc — and maybe I am one now. But defense must matter for something. (https://theathletic.com/4319993/2023/03/17/the-bounce-kings-nba-best-offense/) Otherwise, nobody will care about these scoring feats ever again.

KD led the league in scoring 4 times. Only 2 player have more (MJ and Wilt.)
