Even 10 years ago I feel like the world wasn't such a bizarre place. Transgenders weren't such a big issue, cancel culture wasn't really a mainstream thing, and politics, while divisive for sure, hadn't completely fallen off the rails. I honestly wonder why things changed so dramatically in such a relatively short amount of time. I don't even think you can blame social media because that was huge by the end of the 2000's/early 2010's.

It's the combination of the abrasiveness and energy that Donald Trump brought mixed with social media ramping up. And 99.999% of tribal politics is only on social media and not in real life. When is that last time you ran into a good old boy in a maga hat arguing with a green haired feminist? On the internet that is somewhat common, in real life it is very rare. Reserved for Thanksgiving dinner when your redneck uncle comes in town to mix with his nieces in college.

When you ignore the headline:

So they aren't saying trans men can have cervical cancer. They are saying they need to check out the area that was surgically altered for shit that could be off.

i'll give you that, but you also can't say that it just plain doesn't exist . you're reasonable - you can't ignore the fact that from a mainstream standpoint (hollywood, cable news, even local news and left politics in general) have taken a far left turn socially in recent years.
