Solid defense by Prince on Kobe. His length gave some problems to Kobe. Also Kobe was gunning for his first finals MVP instead of passing the ball to Shaq.
Kobe Bryant averaged 22.6 points on 38.1 FG%, 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 5 games in the 2004 NBA Finals.

Played into Prince’s strongest attributes. Long arms to contest falling in love with the jumper. Wade took the opposite approach and completely toasted him. Just a further example of while amazing and the 2nd best SG ever. MJ had more scoring diversity to his game. He was like Wade and Kobe combined in terms of the approach he could take.

You've made this point like 2 dozen times. Somehow found a way to slurp Jordan in a thread about the '04 Finals :lol

And you seem upset about this? We have all talked about the same things over two dozen times, idiot. Stay off my knob, LeTard Stan. This post hasn’t been made before? Get off ISH and get a life

This was Kobe playing with a bad knee & a bad shoulder with him barely shooting 40% all year & POs leading up to the Finals. They really didn't have any options outside of Shaq (who was past his prime that year as well) so they were outmatched. Wade had the benefit of the rule changes the next two years as well when KB's FTA went up by a significant margin as well.

Prince was close to being the perfect defender to put on a scoring wing. He wasn't strong like Artest of course but he had insane length and was just quick enough. I definitely wouldn't say he would shut Jordan down like he did Kobe but the most comparable defender of Jordan's era was on his team. It would be interesting to see Jordan defended by Prince or pre-injury Durant but of course we never will.

He was out there though so it’s no excuse. If anything, the shoulder injury proves he should’ve been jacking up jump shots if it was that bad, but he had some good shooting games in the playoffs. Don’t make excuses. It was a lot of poor decision making on his part. The rules were changed but really didn’t see full effect to over dramatic levels in 2006. Where all elite perimeter stars saw probably a 4 ppg boost in their average due to the excessive amount of FTs. Hell, Kobe’s 62 in 3 vs Dallas was littered with an obscene amount of free throws. Everybody benefited from that.

That was the worst year of prime Kobe. The knee was a problem but O bet just as big or bigger problem was the atrial going on in his prmersinal life.

Probably would have been a good idea to not keep bricking on a legendary level while having Shaq on your team.

Biggest upset in Finals history. Most thought it would be a sweep or a 4-1 series victory for LA.

That's the point lol. It was easier to get to the rim after '04 and he was playing hurt vs Detroit.

Shaq was past his prime and did as much as he could in that series and the role players couldn't hit a shot. KB had good 4th quarters but they couldn't get any stops on the other end.

Why didn't the media take into consideration that Shaq was past his prime and Kobe allegedly injured when predicting an LA sweep?

This is wrong. Shaq did not do as much as he could because Kobe's dumbass tunnel vision was not allowing him to. Kobe played one of the dumbest playoff series in NBA history in 2004. The Pistons' entire gameplan was to let him chuck and get the ball away from Shaq who was shooting exceptionally, yet Kobe just kept bricking. It's hilarious you tried to make excuses for Kobe for his injuries, which makes it so much worse for him as a player who played like a selfish moron the entire series. That should have incentivized him to play more team ball.
Shaq had a 62% TS while Kobe had a pathetic 46% TS.

You add Lebron's 2015 finals and you get the worst shooting performances of this century in an NBA finals. :applause:

There's 0 logic to your post. Shaq was barely a 20 ppg scorer that season and his production went way up in the finals, so they in fact did what the anti-Kobe trolls are asking here but got no production out of their role guys + Shaq got exploited in the P&R which led to Billups winning FMVP but ok lol.

My point is pretty clear you moron. The gameplan for the Pistons was to allow Kobe to chuck like a moron, and he had zero awareness to slow it down despite shooting on a legendary shit level all finals. He should have given Shaq the ball and let him get to work, but instead he acted like a selfish moron and was the best player in the 04 finals.
They should have given Kobe the FMVP because he was the biggest x factor in helping the Pistons win.

Your point is that "Kobe bad" and you're giving me nothing else to work with here. Lakers had their worst loss when Kobe barely shot the ball btw. Lakers lost because they had nothing going outside of Shaq with some KB sprinkled in there and this version of Shaq was not going to put up 35-40 a game on the Pistons as he didn't have the endurance to do so, which is why he was barely a 20 ppg scorer all year but you already knew that. KB played more minutes than Shaq and while he had more FGA, Shaq also had over twice as many FTAs so the notion that they didn't feed Shaq is just false.

I wonder why the Heat lost that series...sure it was adjustments.
You're about as old as me, but it looks like you just found youtube exists and take random NBA videos out of context, because you only heard about what happened there back in the day months later from imported cereal boxes and used magazines or whatever.

In the 2004 Finals, Gary Payton and Karl Malone combined for
32.0 MPG
9.2 PPG
10.3 RPG
6.7 APG
1.5 SPG
0.7 BPG
32.6 FG% (10.4 FGA)
18.2 3PT% (2.2 3PA)
62.5 FT% (1.6 FTA)
This is garbage for a single player.. let alone a Hall of Famer… let alone two Hall of Famers combined.

Trust the teammates who all no-showed in the series lol?
The game KB took just 13 shots they got blown the **** out. You guys still troll about KB's shooting numbers but only Devean George and Luke Walton had a better FG% (ever so slightly), and they shot 39.3 and 38.5% respectively. Shaq was the only efficient Laker and they already made the effort to get him the ball more than he had gotten all season. KB was actually good in most 4th quarters in that series but they couldn't get stops on the other end.
He averaged 7.0 ppg on 52.4%TS or 41.4%FG in the 4th quarters in the series (41.4%FG vs that team in '04 is actually decent for a perimeter player). Pistons crushed them on the other end.
