https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkgLJO8_wgY The New York Knicks own a 2023 top-10 protected first-round pick from the Mavericks from the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Knicks are projected to draft 6'7" Anthony Black who is a point forward in College. Dallas are tanking cause they don't want their first round pick to end up in New York.

As I understand it, Mavs can trade their 2027 pick after this season, so potentially a top 10 pick + a 2027 first round pick would for sure be an attractive package.

I don't think anyone believes that Mavs would draft and keep a rookie, but rather would trade for some veterans, unless by some sheer luck they got Wemby.

Actually it seems like Mavs could do well this offseason. Considering if they sign Kyrie, then there's a bunch of free agents that could fit their midlevel exception (https://thesmokingcuban.com/posts/dallas-mavericks-2023-early-free-agent-targets) (6 million):

Mason Plumlee, Patt Beverly, Kevin Love, Danilo Gallinari, Blake Griffin, Danny Green, Joe Ingles, Dario Saric etc.

I'd probably try to get Blake Griffin, Mason Plumlee and Kevin Love first.

Then there's a bunch of centers that they could get with some trades/sign and trade.

Poeltl, Capella, Nurkic look like possible options. Either would make them much better. Both Capella and Nurkic should be possible due to how those teams are shaping up.
