He is very good at making self-criticism in front of the media, then, when push comes to shove, he continues to make the same mistakes.

In Spain we usually say "un brindis al sol" :kobe:

Before the season started the pudits said Luka was the odds on favorite to win MVP. Now out of the blue we are hearing all these stories about family issues, injuries, and poor effort to justify the pundits got it wrong. Luka is a young player, going through typical growing pains similar to Trae Young and Ja. They love building players up so they can tear them down when they don't meet thier unrealistic expectations.

Luka has to be better at defense if he wants to win more than one MVP. I'm sure they'll give him one MVP eventually like Westbrook and Harden, but no one wants to give the MVP to players who don't try on defense.

Cool, but he’s been saying that for a couple years now.

All depends on how great he wants to be. He’s already a first ballot HOF player. If he wants more he’s got to get his diet right, get in better condition, and give more effort on defense.

I think and hope that these public statements are a way to put the pressure on himself, because he knows what his weaknesses are.
