Biggest asterisk in the history of the sport. But we all already know that, whether we all admit it or not.

Make a thread about how lucky Ray Allen's shot was and how much it hurt you deep inside when it went in. :lol

It is amazing how you guy make 15,973 threads on the same topic and he still manages to be a4 time NBA champion. If you just make another 6 I'm sure the NBA will apply that asterisk and give you a reason to live.

There are true Laker fans out there but on this site half are Kobe stans that want to see James fail and the other half are James stan that think the whole team sucks but him.

You were making these topics 20 years ago on here posting quotes from Phil and others not counting 99. I told you then nobody would care no matter how much you wanted them to.
And here we are. All anyone says is Duncan won 5 rings.
Prepare for a repeat.
Absolutely no asterisk talk has ever stuck and it never will. Nobody even cares 30 hall of famers were missing for ww2 in baseball. They just say the Yankees have 27 rings.
Nothing anyone has to say about it will change a thing.

He was literally doing this 20 years ago. Swearing 99 didn’t count. Learned nothing.

Some butt hurt players like Shaq says it doesn't count, and the reason Shaq gave was because Shaq thought the season was cancelled and wasn't in shape for 99.
The worst excuse ever.
OP is only saying 2020 doesn't count because LeBron won it. That's it.

Anyone who says the 2020 ring doesn't count is ridiculously stupid and need their brain checked because each team had the same opportunity and were under the same circumstances

but the Lakers needed the extra off season and not to travel on the road because Davis and Lebron can't stay healthy otherwise. The bubble was basically another season based on the records from the previous one.

I am still super butt hurt about 2020.
Giannis sprained his knee RIGHT before the pandemic hit and would have been out 4-5 weeks and lose his MVP guaranteed.
LeBron was going to win that 2020 MVP trophy.
Then Lakers lost home court advantage + their starting point guard.
2020 bubble playoffs were a disaster for LeBron and the Lakers. The deck was stacked against them.

Right after this, dim bulb Xiao chimes in

The bubble ring probably counts twice as much as any other ring. It was pure basketball. No fans, no family, no arena advantage. Speaks to the resiliency of AD and his sidekick Lebron. Legendary chip.

Asterisks are in the eye of the beholder. NBA doesn't need to apply anything - I know what I saw.

Sure but you're an unhinged hater. The basketball historians that people actually listen to will always respect his status as an all time great and the NBA will always recoding him as a 4 tune champion.

3 quarters of the players were drunk, stoned and couldn't care, there were bigger issues in the world at the time.
It just wasn't a level playing field.
If you locked them all away in a Disney bubble today, it may be a little more respectable...but with the world at the time of the bubble, basketball just wasn't important
Still love you, brother
Lock out seasons don't even compare to this...they still played real playoffs and finals

Lots of fans had the 99 Spurs championship as an asterisk. I don't see why this would be any different. In fact, it's worse.

You can write me off as an unhinged hater, but the 2020 bubble asterisk is a pretty widespread view. And there's a reason it was the least watched finals in a long, long time. Because everyone knew it was a joke.
Kblaze8855

The World Series was the least watched ever that year. That Super Bowl was the first to get less than a 40 rating since 1971. Olympics lowest ever. Down 42% from the previous.
Yet every single athlete has the rings and gold medals because none of your opinions mean anything to reality.
You just win the situation you’re in and history records that.
The rest is just people making petty noises.

If you don't want to believe 99 and 2012 are asterisks, that's a reasonable argument given there was some semblence of a standard NBA season.
2020? Come on...there are 100 reasons it should have an asterisk.

you realize that at one point the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia eagles were among NFL teams so decimated by war and general world chaos, they combined for a season? The fans came to call them the Steagles. Guess what?
The title from that season still counts.
Everything counts, and everything always will because haters not liking who won a weird situation means zero. Your crusade on here 20 years ago did absolutely nothing and this one won’t either.
You’ve watched me be right these 20 years and you’re about to watch 20 more.
Every time this comes up, no matter the situation, or who wins people will say it doesn’t count, and history will count it, and none of their opinions will mean shit because nobody cares.
Nobody cares about world crippling wars impact on the record books and then damn sure won’t care about covid making people play basketball in a different place than usual. The winner won. Your thoughts will blow away in the wind of history like every haters ever did on this subject regardless of the motivation or how strong they think the case is.
Every champion is getting credit for it till the day the sun goes supernova.

Yea that’s great. Let me set the clock to remind you how wrong you are(again) in another 20 years. Not that it will take that long. You’re wrong now. Just like you were wrong about 99 when we argued about it in 03. I’ll keep being right and they’ll all be counted and considered legit long as you live. I’ll leave you alone with the people who don’t realize this act is decades old and already proven irrelevant.

Oh no..you're wrong.
For one simple reason.
It won't be counted any more than Barry Bonds home run record.
